I still havent bothered to go to a doctor yet but plan to if my current own trials dont work.

I bought a knee brace which has helped alot at not making it worse when walking but unsure if it is getting better.

I am trying ibuprofen now since I read online that it can reduce swelling to help it heal.

I am unable to extend it however I cant walk down a curb or other similar raised surface without being very careful because if I do it jars it and it feels like it bends backwards too far. Feels horrible.

Don't understand how it couldnt have healed yet. I tried stopping playing racket sport and resting it but it still didnt do it.

What can the doctors actually do? It seems quite vage what I read online. I read they recomend using a brace and taking NSAIDS. both of which Im not trying. I guess they can better diagnose the problem so I am giving it the rest of the week tryin ibuprofen and if no improvement then Ill go.

There can be some kind of damage to the connective tissues surrounding the knee joint, and this can get worse if you strain your knee any more. It's best to get checked by a doctor. Sometimes this kind of injuries have to be repaired surgically.

Adding to what Polymath provided, a proper visit to a specialist could help identify exactly what has occurred to your leg and they can generally provide a multitude of plans to fix the issue. Physical therapy can go a long way if you have the discipline.

I'm always on the wall when it comes to braces. I feel they have there place in the world, but they also assume the role for a lot of stabilization that your body most likely could have compensated for and in the end inevitably lead to unwanted atrophy. Only use a brace if rigorous therapy is providing little to nothing IMO.
