I wasn't quite sure where to put this, I suppose this is the correct subforum.

I've recently noticed in the last few months that Psychonaut.wiki, which contains very basic and valuable basic wiki like information of many drugs, particularly exotic drugs. I used to be able to type in rather specific google qieries , and psychonaut.wiki would also be in the first few results. Now it's in the back near page 9, just like bluelight.... you literally have to type "psychonautwiki" or "bluelight" for these websites to show up. The rest of the pages are 100% bullshit rehab ads and various law enforcement links. There isn't even a community or anything negative about this site.

It seems to me that whoever started the project seems less enthusiastic now, or it's just a slow growing site. I don't know. There are many basic entries that aren't filled it.

Anyways, I've become incredibly disillusioned from Google. It is not the company it once was. With the search algorithm, the youtube anti-adblock debaucle, and all the other shitty shit they do, it seems like their new CEO only wants to improve profits, at the cost of user experience. idk....

I want to abandon google, but changing my real email address will be difficult because I've had to for over 20 years. Plus, it would seem isolating from work or friends if you couldn't easily add them on google.

google is ass, unfortunately i have a google pixel phone rn so im just dealing with it at the moment. i've been trying to detach as much as I can from all of their services. did get the yandex keypad app though so they're not reading my damn words lol. and then apparently startpage is a good option for search engine that gives you similar results. i've changed all my browsers to Brave, and got a full proton.me subscription so i'm backing up all of my files into an encrypted drive and all that shit. once thats settled and i have all of my pictures and things im gonna delete everything of mine associated with google

I"ve always just been a signal in the noise kind of person. I don't try to hide from them and I don't care what they know about me searching. Nothing I search for is anything I don't feel comfortable searching for. By far the most controversial stuff I use the internet for is to posts my thoughts on drugs and harm reduction.

I will say this - the young kids coming up don't use google... I forget where I heard this, but it's apparently becoming a notable thing in that the younger generations just aren't search engine savy at all. Maybe it's related to them using smartphones instead of computers as a primary and initial way of accessing the internet, I don't know. It's interesting how these things ebb and flow.

The psychonaut wiki project has been quite dead for quite a while. There are some things that get some updates, but it's mostly been abandoned. I think the developer grew out of it and moved on to other things.

If i type bluelight in DuckDuckGo. Language setting Dutch.
Its not even near the top results,
but Bluelight on WIKIPEDIA is on top, at the right.

Change language setting of browser to English [UK]
Bluelight is the top result. Check Psychonautwiki in a min.
As in UK modus, mostly popped on top by typing,
just the substance name + dosage, in the address bar.

Which is in essence just like going via DuckDuckGo,
the search engine page that s set as preference.
But i am always incognito so start with a black page.

Will check Google too, a exception ! as reference.

I too have used duckduckgo for about a decade, plus or minus a year or two.

I also didn't trust google from near it's public release of, tyranny against the world. I got my first email almost 30 years ago. Back when netscape navigator was the portal to the rather primative internet in 1996? Daily Motion? It is a French company, yeah I know.( shaking my head) But they have some (ok a little bit of good content). It is definitely no youtube though, in the good sense( which, that good sense is disapearing very fast).

There are only about 5,000 English words you can use on YouTube, if you are a content creator. Actually, that's not funny it censorship and just plain annoying. They have lost their way down a path that they helped create.

The Russian one, I would avoid. Do I even need too explain why? Yanex or something?
