Oh gotcha. I loved Netscape navigator it was my favorite browser way back when. Microsoft are to blame for killing them though not Google. And after that the developers went on to found Mozilla and develop Firefox so arguably some good came out of it.

Firefox vs Chromium, the LINUX version of MicroSofties Chrome.
Ime functions better, always ran into trouble using that Fox.

Btw i pile them all up as if one waste. Microsoft, The Google agglomerate.
Might forgotten some, anarchy rules. Everything that not transparant,
free shared ware, OS systems that get unsupported.

As for the new OS, you need a faster PC. Doubling profits.

I was referring to mentioning duckduckgo earlier than you, emkee and others on the same thread or whatever.
I too have used duckduckgo for about a decade, plus or minus a year or two.

I also didn't trust google from near it's public release of, tyranny against the world. I got my first email almost 30 years ago. Back when netscape navigator was the portal to the rather primative internet in 1996? Yeah there was other search engines, I used yahoo for a while and others, but only ever really liked duckduckgo.

Certainly not good like a Hacker. And miss Patience too.

Laptops can run on XUBUNTU/ LUBUNTU, doubt they are outdated.

However those, Apple computers really started to change things. Then Macintosh computers. Yes, IBM had it's glory days in the computer nerd world.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this, I suppose this is the correct subforum.

I've recently noticed in the last few months that Psychonaut.wiki, which contains very basic and valuable basic wiki like information of many drugs, particularly exotic drugs. I used to be able to type in rather specific google qieries , and psychonaut.wiki would also be in the first few results. Now it's in the back near page 9, just like bluelight.... you literally have to type "psychonautwiki" or "bluelight" for these websites to show up. The rest of the pages are 100% bullshit rehab ads and various law enforcement links. There isn't even a community or anything negative about this site.

It seems to me that whoever started the project seems less enthusiastic now, or it's just a slow growing site. I don't know. There are many basic entries that aren't filled it.

Anyways, I've become incredibly disillusioned from Google. It is not the company it once was. With the search algorithm, the youtube anti-adblock debaucle, and all the other shitty shit they do, it seems like their new CEO only wants to improve profits, at the cost of user experience. idk....

I want to abandon google, but changing my real email address will be difficult because I've had to for over 20 years. Plus, it would seem isolating from work or friends if you couldn't easily add them on google.

They even turned off the verbatim quotation marks mode by default (I was wondering why that stopped working as well as it used to...). Combined with their super greedy crack down on adblockers on Youtube, they are now your average shitty ultra greedy corpo. They were once good...

I'm planning on ditching it forever. I've just been too busy/lazy. All of my passwords, bookmarks, etc etc etc need to be written down.

I'm also going to ditch Chrome. I just haven't decided on if I want to main Firefox or Brave. Maybe switch over to Linux altogether.

I use Firefox with ublock origin extension. It blocks Google ads and trackers, including ads on Youtube.

They will not spam me. I refuse. I see the content that I want to see.

Duckduckgo is an okay backup search engine, but they sided with big pharma during the pandemic and censored all sites that criticized pandemic protocols. So they are captured too... but they still show more results than google. Google has become radicalized by the American left.
