Hallucinogens and body temperature

Recently I've been tripping 3-4 times a week on DOC. I usually do it when I work, and at work we've got a infared temp sensing gun. I got in the habbit of taking the temperature of the back of my hand, and on days I don't trip it averages 92F, but when I'm tripping its at 94.

Is this an especially worrysome side effect? How closely is surface temp correlated with core body temperature? I know that the body's chemical reactions need to take place within a very specific temp range, and I wonder if this could be fucking me up in a way I'm not aware of, as I put in a solid 60 hours of tripping a week.

It's very common for hallucinogens to cause hyperthermia in mammals. One lapine test for serotonergic activity utilizes rectal thermometers; the higher the temperature, the more activity is assumed.

I'm not sure it's particularly dangerous, but I wouldn't be surprised if your immune system is a little suppressed.

Intoxo worries: "How closely is surface temp correlated with core body temperature?"

Not closely . . . in fact, NOT at all.

Instead of playing around with the Temp Gun, just use a Thermometer (in your mouth, preferably).

I've read a joke somewhere going round in the medical field:

What is the difference between oral and anal thermometer?

Taste!

5-HT2A receptor activation increase body temperature.. classical effect.
