NEMD Grateful Dead Appreciation Thread

I'm waiting on Furthur to announce some more dates soon. Hopefully they make it up the midwest again!

I love to see Dead covers pop up at shows, often sends the chills down my back! I saw an unexpected Dead cover set this summer, and it blew my mind. Smiling, dancing, and near tears the whole show.

logic, i'll probably just see the alpharetta show, might go to NYE for one last blow out. i kind of hung it up when mikey died and only catch a few shows a year these days. but, by all means my friend, see as many as you possibly can.

I saw panic at 'roo for the first time and they killed it. I loved their show but left before they finished as they played the last set and I was tired and ready to head home. I think I might see them in Memphis and maybe Nashville if I can make it up there.

Thanks man! I checked it out/posted. That Bill dude is a jerk. He didn't say anything constructive. I love the idea of jam band tours and the freedom that comes with them. I know the cops can get a little heavy or at least they did for the grateful dead but at least at fests, open and accept drug use is everywhere. I love that, it is something that I believe is completely appropriate for enjoying music.

Saw Further recently and man, they blew me away. Not only were the courteous enough to play in an amphitheater in a relatively small city (though the county its in is pretty big), but they played alot of the GREATS. They played like 5 of my personal favorite Dead songs, and there were no dull moments in between. The acapella (?) encore was great. Long live the great Grateful Dead!

Latest entry is Dead related.

pigpen, i just got completely lost in you blog. it's very very very good. please keep updating it and please stay safe my man.

They had been doing those train horns with drums/space all summer long during that tour. I never made the Casey Jones connection until I was hanging out front of the stadium in DC during the day of the show and they were doing a soundcheck and they started playing Casey. It was obvious then that thats what all the train whistles were for and this was the night they were going to play it. Sure enough they did.

Thanks for the compliments on my blog guys. Im getting some pro advice on how to spice it up and am working on making a chapbook. As you all have probably noticed my grammar isnt for shit. Im working on it. You really make me smile that you dig it.

^Its really good stuff man! I'm listening to "I Know You Rider"-7/15/11-the one further show I've attended as I type. Amazing stuff. I wish I could go to many, many more shows. Maybe next summer...

I'll definitely be at Wilkes-Barre, more than likely Syracuse....but god damn I would KILL to see them at the Cumberland County Civic Center, mainly cause i'm in love with 5/13/79(GD) and Portland seems like an awesome city to visit.
