NEMD Grateful Dead Appreciation Thread

for heavy metal dead heads:

jack straw(aka crack straw, cause that D Bm A E chord progression is my crack) from 1/7/79

LISTEN TO IT and confirm it's awesomeness

if you like gatling gun fanning

overall not a great show, and it's an aud, first song ever performed at MSG, 'nuff said

and anyone looking for dope nasty versions of straw, music never stopped, dew, black throated wind or looks like rain just ask, i've heard pretty much every version of those songs and hold the key to the TNT

the jack straw from the spectrum later that year is one of my favorite too

recommend me some music never stopped's! the other day i was trying to remember the date on a pretty crazy one i heard recently.. seems to happen a lot, i listen to a show or jam that blows me away and then i can't remember what it was. i guess i do like to do most of my GD listening stoned

anyway...so i was looking through the setlists from this 72 Europe tour. TONS AND TONS of repeats.

the shows are fantastic, and i'm no huge dead collector, but i really don't see myself listening to all of these shows due to the high number of repeats.

well, yeah - but i am not going to sit and listen to 8 shows in a row anyway...so all the repeats don't really matter to me. what does matter to me is having the whole tour available in el sicko quality. it is consistently awesome from the first note to the last.

you're absolutely correct.

i need a better method of organizing my music. i listen to itunes on shuffle a lot, so repeats come up.

What are your favorite Looks Like Rains, just outta curiosity? I'm a huge fan of one from '72, and then my other favorite is in '81 I believe.

listening to furthur live @ vegas right now on XM

they were starting to bore me, but this tour has a sick fresh sound from what i've heard so far, can't wait to see them 11/5 and 11/11 :) maybe 11/15

this minglewood is bad ass!!

most of the furthur shows i have bothered to download and listen to are pretty darn good. i quit grabbing the majority of them and i think from here on out i am pretty much going to stick to just listening to the shows i actually saw.

Here here to all that was said above.

No matter how jaded I get, I'll always love The Grateful Dead.
