Why doctors advice 2-10 mg of diazepam for acute seizures when alternative treatment is lorazepam 1-2,5mg and im EU alprazolam 1-4mg as needed. How can even 10mg of diazepam compete with 2,5mg lorazepam or alprazolam? Are they so poorly educated or is it some kind of stigma? Once after seizure i came to ER and the doctor told me that some people take only 2mg diazepam, why i need more? Omg, i can take 200mg and act sober. They are scared of 20-60mg doses of diazepam when it is actually not that much.

This is a valid opinion of how you feel about valium.

And I have to agree with you that there are other benzos that are better for certain things. Valium has been around since my Great Grandmother and it's a great drug to taper with if trying to quit the " stronger " RC benzos . Or even trying to quit klonopin or xanax.

Valium is the go to for a lot of Dr's as it's been prescribed forever. And is safe when used as directed.

But when I popped pills I preferred a different benzo as well. And yeah, 2 mgs is like baby aspirin. I had no tolerance and barely felt 10. 30 mgs was my sweet spot. No amnesia, no shoplifting, no eating them without knowing I did. Just a good relaxing nights sleep.

Different benzos are good for different things and I don't think most Dr's understand fully that some need Xanax, some need Klonopin, some need Ativan some need Valium and some need none.

I also have something called cinolazepam, which is used for sleep (40mg per pill). It is like alprazolam but 50 percent weaker.

Yeah diazepam is the best benzo IME, but the worst dosed. Scripts top out at 10mg which is supposedly equal to 1mg alprazolam which tops out at 2mg... yeah, no lol. I'd say 15-20mg diaz = 1mg alpraz. I've always had to take at least 20mg diazepam to feel anything but I can feel as little as .5mg alpraz. Go figure.

So yeah, doctors just aren't aware of how impotent it is I think.

You've got to be kidding, Diazepam is the gold standard benzodiazepine. It's the best one combating seizures, even better than lorazepam or Xanax. The thing bout it like someone said some posts up there, it's poorly dosed.
I bet you to take of real vallies 40mg beats the shit out of any commercial benzodiazepine. It has the best muscle relaxant effects too, good it feels so nice. You needa give it another shot at it

You can't have your proper diazepam dosage because the doctor will get arrested since him giving you diazepam makes rich suburban kids die of fentanyl.

Welcome to American drug policy.

Diaz is fucking king of all bzd, dun know the fuck u guys talking bout😂😂😂 I love that chalky texture under my tongue and the muscle relaxation.

I’ve been on benzodiazepines since 2007, have they come up with anything to help like subs for opiates? Thx.

Diazepam is great when used IV because it doesn't build up like Lorazepam so it can be dosed repeatedly without risking over sedation

Unfortunately no

If you want off, take your time tapering with long acting benzo or your mental health will suffer big time

Thank you and I unfortunately understand that. Really wish they could find something to help like that. Have a good day.

I heard about Flumazenil, it's not available in many countries though, it helps reset gaba receptors to help paws, it's also used in benzo OD, so maybe it's more like narcan but it's a very new treatment for benzo addiction, only thing is it needs done in a treatment centre, it's expensive, I think it comes in pills and injections

This is off wiki Flumazenil has been found to stimulate the reversal of tolerance and the normalization of receptor function reversing tolerance and reducing withdrawal symptoms and relapse rates

The author of the study suggested the most likely explanation is past benzodiazepine use and subsequent tolerance had locked the conformation of the GABA-BZD receptor complex into an inverse agonist conformation, and the antagonist flumazenil resets benzodiazepine receptors to their original sensitivity. Flumazenil was found in this study to be a successful treatment for protracted benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome, but further research is required

Thank you Axiety Girl! I remember reading that one before ( not until you reminded me though hehe) because well…benzodiazepines, and other psych meds. I’m going to look it up again. Honestly I don’t think I will ever be off of them, I end up psychosis and then psych hospitals.
Thank you again hope you have a good day!

Shit, that's bad, what how long was you on them, and what dose when you came off and ended up in a psych hospital, and you mean it's happened more than once?
