So in the news again "there is no link between tough drug laws and people not doing drugs!" so people will do drugs whatever the law is.
but of course the government says " so what ; we'll do what we want!" well I say so what. I'll do what I want. I'm not bad! But you lot in charge are.

and then i saw this somewhere

"The US prison-industrial complex is so out of control that private prisons have the sheer audacity to order states to keep beds full or face their wrath with stiff financial penalties, according to reports. Private prisons in some states have language in their contracts that state if they fall below a certain percentage of capacity that the states must pay the private prisons millions of dollars, lest they face a lawsuit for millions more. And guess what? The private prisons, which are holding cash-starved states hostage, are getting away with it, says advocacy group, In the Public Interest.

In the Public Interest has reviewed more than 60 contracts between private prison companies and state and local governments across the country, and found language mentioning “quotas” for prisoners in nearly two-thirds of those contracts reviewed. Those quotas can range from a mandatory occupancy of, for example, 70 percent occupancy in California to up to 100 percent in some prisons in Arizona"

evil people about my friends.

It is a joke how america is so obviously corrupt to its core, even more so than here with its private prisons, and the % of population in prison, no nhs and harsher drug laws/worse public drug safety awareness/just say no instead of just say know, police brutality, and use of excessive force, spying on its citizens, so many abc agencies they need abcd agencies now and relaxed laws/hypocritical drugs available at pain clinics, like strong opiates and benzos handed out like candy which bring in a pretty penny. Also advertising for Big Pharma drugs allowed. And more corrupt doctor retreats if they push latest pill on patients. Or that seems to go on more there at least.

I think most of that is objectively true.

DoBO: Heavy penalties do not affect levels of drug use

From the Department of the Bleeding Obvious: Heavy penalties for drug users don't affect levels of drug use:

Meanwhile the British government are, as usual, in denial:
The government said it had "no intention" of decriminalising drugs.
The Tories would rather you die than get high.

Well its just one of many areas that accurely tell part of the puzzle of why our elected officials care more about their perfect society (whatever you read into that meaning...) and keeping themselves and their friends and families in positions of power, than they do about the majority of us. Care more about keeping their law and order, the satis quo so to speak, than what is good / safer for humanity as a hole. I don't believe they are simply stupid, most far from it. The alternative to thinking they are stupid is to think they knowingly either can't positively change the situation, or they won't... for whatever reason. which leads me back to it not about being whats good for society as a whole, but whats good for keeping things the way they are, maintaining the balance of power they have over us. staying in power, winning votes etc. all more important than doing the right thing. This is the cold hard fact about the world we live in. The powers that be care more about keeping their power than they do about the greater good of society or human progression as a whole. Am I missing something here? m a disillusioned youth or have I summed up most of politicians accurately? Or at least summed up those who have the power currently. My dad is/was wrong about a great many of his beliefs (Imo) he's homophobic, racist, used to say 'nuke them all' in regards to seeing muslims on tv, voted bnp and now ukip, but one thing he was right about (imho) was politicians, where the quote that springs to mind went something, well exactly like this. "Doesn't matter who gets in, same shit different arse hole' to which i responded 'well why did you bother voting this year then? I heard some nondescript muttering back. Other than all that he's a lovely bloke though!
