Hello all,

I am not I anyway a doctor this is just from life experience as I have experienced this sadly more then once.

What I have found to be a miracle for relieving w/d for opiates and suboxone symptoms and I finally went to a doctor and got prescribed these two. Clonidine and Librium...Clonidine is a blood pressure medication and for me and as for a lot of people that I read about it gets rid of most of the uncomfortable symptons such as the rls, and anxiety which again for me where the absolute worse. And it knocks you the F out. For me it was amazing and Librium im not too positive about but I do know its a very mild Benzo that too works for sleep. I used to use heroin and then when I wanted to quit I would get prescribed suboxone which I now hate. Don't get me wrong it is a miracle drug and using gets rid for me at least all the w/d symptoms that there is. But all your doing with that is replacing one drug for another b/c suboxne is also addictive and if not taking properly (by tapering off the right way) your going to get w/d symptoms imo and in many others WAY WORSE and last ten times longer then and opiate withdrawal. Anyway If you take .1 of the clonidine 2x daily along with the Librium (or any benzo if that's all you have) ive found it to be absolutely amazing and works so well to minimal to no w/d at all. I really wish I knew anything about these before I ever got introduced to suboxone that I now hate. I put this up to help people in need of it again im not a doctor this is just personal experience which I have a lot of when it comes to opiates. I hope this helps anyone out with this question Be safe everyone!!!

Yes, clonidine is a great tool to use to combat many of the withdrawal symptoms you experience when coming off of opiates, and we all know that benzos are great for it too but they are often harder to get prescribed.

If you are using clonidine though it's best for if you can stay at home in bed while you kick, so if you are still going to work it's not a good idea to take it since it really does knock you out so you really won't have much energy after taking it and if you stand up too quickly you may feel faint or even actually faint.

If you take a half of a pill at night (or I should say 0.1mg) then it will still help but will allow you to still work the next day, so I would say that if you still have to work during your withdrawals then take 0.1mg at around 7pm (if you have work at 9am) but if you don't have to work then take the 0.2mg 2-3x a day.

I should also mention that in some cases there are some rebound effects after stopping it if you've used it for 3 or more consecutive days, so you should do a little 3 day taper to eliminate those.

This method has been utilized in detox facilities for years.

Where I live after you're cleared for admittance, they give you two options.

1. 5-7 day Methadone taper (some facilities use a suboxone taper)

2. 7-10 day Clonidine and Librium taper (used mainly for alcoholics)

Both methods have the potential to work well for low-dose opioid dependency.

In regards to detoxing (not maintenance) I wouldn't put much faith in these drugs if you have a serious heroin habit. (ofc even more so if you have a benzo tolerance)

Thank you so much for posting this info ! I'm going to start tapering Suboxone and I'm scared to death of the withdrawals when I finally stop.

This is how the local detox does it or shall I say used to but for moderate to large habits its still very very uncomfortable even with clonadine . It was great when Suboxone came here a couple years ago. Now they do a quick taper with Suboxone and it makes detox so much easier you don't even feel sick during the time at detox then you get about a week of having the shits and some sleeping problems/anxiety but no symptoms that really needs to be medicated. But if this works for you then great but all the clonadine did was help me sleep for a bit then they just seemed to stop making me tired and just took the edge off the RLS. But I had a huge habit i did an 8ball of heroin a day and I needed 12mgs of Suboxone to get well so I figure thats why the clonadine didn't help me much.
