Apart from maybe making you more aggressive, what are the psychological side effects known to glucocorticoid steroids?

This thread alludes to there being a lot, but doesn't go into a lot of details:

I'm on a potent preparation of topical betamethasone for moderate to severe psoriasis. It's such a strong preparation that it seeps into my whole system if I put it on my skin. All I can say is, corticosteroids most certainly have mental effects, and they're not fun or recreational. I feel emotionally colder, less passionate or loving, more ADHD, and always unsure of how hungry or sleepy I am.[...]
I'm on beclomethasone for hay fever and only this thread helped me make the association between that and all the side effects. It should have been obvious but I swear this makes me almost delirious and the psychological effects are inexplicable...

Glucocorticoids are Corticosteroids. They are not anabolic androgenic steroids. They do nothing in terms of building muscles, contributing to fat loss, and making one more aggressive. They are used to reduce inflammation and pain from certain injuries. Don't take them unless you are prescribed to them.

You're right about the classification, but not about the side effects. Glucocorticoids are known to produce a variety of mental side effects, ranging from anxiety/panic to depression to mania to psychosis, though these are heavily dependant on dosage and how long you take them for.

I'm currently on methylprednisolone for immune thrombocytopenia, and luckily for me it seems to give me a very slight manic effect (which is nice in this boring hospital). Interestingly, even though it is being given to me IV, the effect builds over several hours. However, I appear to be building a tolerance to it.

Corticosteroids also do the opposite to AAS's as in they break down fat, muscle and bone!

I'm prescribed 20mg Hydrocortisone for life and had thinning of the spine because of this shit. I was put on Testosterone to thicken my bones and thankfully they're back to normal, but I'll also have to take the Test' for the rest of my life too.
