Getting to sleep without pot?

Two days ago I decided to take a break from all drugs to clear my mind and develop a healthier relationship with them. I smoked pot daily for three years, the last two being very heavy smoking whenever possible. Pot is intertwined with my emotions, eating and sleeping which are pretty primary aspects of life. The appetite hasn't been too bad but the sleeping is a problem. I don't want to take any sleep medication because my goal with this month is to gain total independence from all drugs. Any ideas on how to induce drowsiness without drugs?
 
Have you considered using the combo Valerian + Melatonine? IME both substances has helped me to get rid of my insomnia and gave me some of the most vivid and wonderful dreams I had in my life. I also wake up feeling very refreshed and energetic since I have been using this combination of 'drugs'. I prefer the term supplements though myself since they have little to no recreational value and no withdrawal symptoms that I know of. :)

Both Valerian and Melatonine are available OTC in the US and they work better than any other medicine I have tried. I would recommend using Valerian gelcaps since Valerian itself has a pretty nasty smell IMHO. 300 mg of Valerian and 0.1 mg of Melatonine is my current regimen and it pretty much killed my insomnia and gave me some of the most wonderful dreams I ever had in my life. :)

I really recommend the combination, I am also a daily Cannabis smoker and I have had the same problem with sleeping as you describe. Below is some information from Erowid about both substances:

Good luck with sleeping without Cannabis, I know how bad it can be. Try those two supplements out, they don't cost very much so give it a try.

Ask your pharmacy for dolxyamine succinate, have it after an alcoholic drink or two. Just don't become dependent on this for sleep.

This helped my insomnia the last time I quit.
 
exercise and ceasing using cannabis to the point where it becomes a sleep aid.
 
thanks guys! I think I'll try the melatonin as it is more of a vitamin/supplement than a real drug.
