getting mad when exams are too easy

Unfortunately the situation arises where you just can't fail as many people as you want to. It looks really bad if 40% of the class fail as it looks like the teaching is ineffective. This may be the case, but the other case is that a lot of students are just plain fucking lazy (or stupid) and you have to let a certain amount slide.

It sucks, but thats university bureauocracy (how the fuck do you spell that word... srsly...). They want as much money as they can get (and rightly so in many cases as there just ain't that much funding money going around for many types of research) and often that leads to a degree which is devalued.

I don't lecture any classes but am a tutor/TA for a couple and I mark hard but fair. Unfortunately it isn't up to me to fail people (in the sense that I'd like to fail some people - but I don't really want to do the marking... marking fucking blows...), I just mark their assignments and not their exams so I can only advise the prof... but hey.

Eh.

Yeah: that's *precisely* "the spin" that Administrators put on the phenomenon: it's never that the students were ill-prepared, un-motivated, and absent... 8)

According to Word (spell-check), it's: "bureaucracy"--nutty, ¿eh?...
