Well done for getting clean mate!
Thanks mate!! Now I am getting off cigarettes. Its been 2-3 days without one. Lastly I will get rid of benzos...
hmm after being on suboxone for a long period though there's PAWS, Im almost wishing I just w/d off the heroin instead. Im almost thinking of switching back to a full-agonist like dope, titrating and then using etizolam, or maybe then take sub again for a few days. either ways, long-term sub maintence seems to be generally agreed upon that w/d's last for months. Im not looking forward to this. wish I woulda quick tapered off the suboxone, if only I knew I would have gotten dropped from state- insurance :/
Yeh I was on suboxone for years, when i went to rehab it took 6 weeks to taper me off 16mg and i still had PAWS months later...ended up busting again.
Like I said, I switched from methadone, which is probably harder to get off than suboxone (in my opinion), to short acting full agonist opiates. Then just took suboxone for two days only, then took no more. There is no question having benzos, clonidine etc helped me with the process. I still remember the first doctor i met at the first detox/rehab (i have been to seven in all) told me heroin/morphine is the easiest to withdraw from in regards to PAWS. There is also a number of things that can aid your brain to repair itself in the following weeks. I used this site for initial info:
<http://www.restoreunity.org/brain_regeneration_in_heroin_addiction.htm>
Although some of the doses of these supplements listed on that site are a little wrong (one wouldn't take 1-3 GRAMS of melatonin as it is generally measured in mg), there is no question they have helped me feel better faster. You can find additional information on these on the net.
Just like getting addicted was a progressive process, getting clean in the right way so too seems that way. You learn things along the way, remember things and getting a little advice can not be under estimated. Last of all keep strong! You can do it.
I wish you luck, we all need it
