Anyone ever get called out on your track marks?
Has anyone at work, or a friend, girlfriend, whatever, ever ask "hey, what are those marks all over your arm?"
Have they ever actually asked if they were drug related?
What happened? What excuse did you give and did it work?
I have two pretty obvious "lines" on both arms, going from my wrist to about 6 inches up my forearm. However, for me they aren't on the underside of the arm, the "classic" spot for traks - it's more like on the inside, as if you traced from the base of the thumb down. Fortunately my arm hair does a good job of disguising them, but anyone near me would clearly be able to see them if they happened to be looking at my arms.
I can't help but wonder if people just don't notice them, or if they do and just think nothing of it. Of course paranoia makes me think SOMEONE must have seen them and thought "junkie."
Still, if I was talking to a friend and noticed an unusual "scar" like that I'd ask what happened, just in a totally innocent, curious way. That's why I figure no one has really noticed, since NO ONE has ever asked!
I have to admit, every time I look in the mirror and see those lines running up my arms, THOSE are the moments I ponder quitting. Not because I think I'm out of control, but because I don't like the idea of people being able to see the marks!
I mean if i had a significant other right now, she would totally be asking me what happened. My cover story is I was playing with a cat, holding it up by it's underarms, sort of making it walk like a person, when it just slid down out of my hands with claws out.
At least it LOOKS possible. The only problem is explaining why 6 months later they haven't healed yet.
And what about going to the doctor? It seems inevitable that one of these days I'm going to be on a doctor's visit, maybe having a routine checkup and he notices the marks... No way HE is going to fall for the cat story!
Anyway, I'm really interested in what everyone else has to say about this topic, it seems like an important thing to talk about that a lot of people have gone through, or will...
