Hi all... first post...

So if you put some kind of chemical up your nose, how long does it take to fully absorb into the soft tissue? How much actually makes it to the lungs? And does it depend on the chemical? In other words - if I snort some MDMA (or whatever), can I blow my nose some time soon after? Because that shit can really hurt... and drip...

First put water in your nose, then sniff again. Then you can give it a minute to asborb so that wehn you blow, you don't loose it. I also put neosporin in my nose everytime, keep it clean and healthy

Regarding how long it takes to absorb, different substances have different BA's when taken different ways and some substances may absorb better or worse intranasally. I'm not sure about MDMA specifically. The rule of thumb for most substances taken intranasally also is to try to get it more into the nose and don't rail it back into the lungs so much. Some substances lose some of their potency when you inhale it too deeply and it goes into your lungs or stomachs, not to mention some of those substances are potentially harmful when they make it into the lungs, especially over the long term.

Personally, whenever I insufflate anything, I keep it in my nose as long as possible and after a few minutes, I put a bit of water in my nose to help it dissolve and absorb. I usually avoid blowing my nose for quite a while after taking in a substance because I obviously don't want to lose any of it. :)

Also, I use a sinus rinse every day, for the most part, to clear out my sinuses and keep them nice and spiffy. I recommend this to anyone who insufflates anything, or just anyone in general as its good to clear all of the gunk that accumulates in your sinuses both just from your body's natural mucous production and from your recreational habits.

Thanks for the info!

Excuse my ignorance, but what's BA?...

Hmm, yea, but I just have to blow my nose if I put water up it - I guess 'quite a while' means half an hour or so? Maybe I should just parachute the stuff that stings and give up snorting weird drugs... or maybe not... :D

Good advice! I don't currently do that. Any particular brand? I live in the UK BTW so that question is really for those this side of the pond, but if anyone knows an active ingredient I should be looking for that'll do.

Cheers!

BA means bioavailability - the amount of the drug you ingest (by whatever route) that actually ends up in your bloodstream. Higher BA = higher concentration in your blood = stronger effects.

I don't think you need to wait half an hour for things to be absorbed nasally - I think the drug is absorbed through the nasal mucosa pretty quickly (but don't have anything to back up this claim, sorry!)

Also, no idea about sinus rinses, not something I have ever tried. Healthy sinuses shouldn't need them but I can see that if you are insufflating a lot of stuff it might be a good idea.

(Hi to another UK person too! :) )

What drug are you talking about in particular? It should never be going down into your lungs, though the drip of course is inevitable. Depending on what you're using, some stuff is better to spit out.
I used to get into the habit of just snorting a cupped-handful of water with a bit of salt mixed in, if i'd been railing stuff all night. Helps clear stuff out that would otherwise just sit in there dissolving my sinuses :P

Yes, what are you taking? With that information we can give you the BA for it and see if snorting is the best way to take it.

Unfortunatly nAON, sometimes the powder can end up in the lungs and it is no good for them. There are two simple things to do to minimise powder entering the lungs: -

1. Crush and chop your powder up as fine as you can, this increases the surface area of the chemical which helps it get dissolved into the body. It also makes the powder easier to snort.

2. Inhale very slowly and gently. By doing this it enters your nose slowly and has more chance of touching the inside of the nose which is where it gets absorbed. If you inhale fast then some of it will end up straight in your lungs which is not only useless in terms of activating the drug but can be bad for you.

Atheus, welcome to Bluelight too. I hope you can get a lot of good advice and enjoy your time here.

I did forget to add the sinus rinse, anything made with saline, However the neospirin heals the tissue and keeps it from drying out. So you don't get a hole in your nose.
