Siren: frustrating and boring. Graphics and sound were good though. Thats all I can say. It came out a while ago, but I just got around to getting it at the bottom of my gamefly que. As far as survival-horror goes, very lame. Silent Hill and Resident Evil are still the best. I'm trying Kuon soon, so who knows? this is a genre that really could use some new blood, like maybe someone besides a Japanese software company making one. 4 out of 10.
Ace Combat 5: If you like flight sims, this is one of the few good ones on a console. Lack of online was really disapointing though. But its not something I can play a lot of, just casualy putz with and enjoy before work, like Tiger Woods. 7.5 out of 10.
Merceneries: Playground of Destruction, this game is the biggest suprise in the last year for me. With all the shitty GTA wannabe's that have been released, this is refreshing. While only a T rated game, its quite fun. Not as interactive as GTA, but its found it's niche. Combat is fast and entertaining, and the grahpics are very good. A fresh spin on style of game that needed something new. The vehicles are great, especially the controls for using tanks. It's a little buggy, but good. I find it odd I'm even enjoying a game by Lucas Arts, since I haven't in quite some time. 9 out of 10.
Silent Hill 4: If you like it, you like it. This was $30 new less than 3 months after being released in the US. The combat isn't as complicated as Resident Evil, but the puzzles, style and story are unique and very cool. Disturbing imagry drawing from that style of horror made popular in remakes like The Ring (aka Ringu in Japan). Frustrating at the hardest difficulty, but challenging and disturbingly fun on moderate/normal levels. Give it a try, and let me know if you're not pleasantly suprised. 8 out of 10.
Anyone play Resident Evil 4? I'm curious to get some feedback on anyone who has actualy tried it.
