I have been up and down for three days or so on adderall (amphetamine) and I began experiencing some severe anxiety, depression, and dysphoria. I almost contemplated suicide. I imagine many of you have been here or are here at the moment. I want to share something that saved me and have some questions answered about it.
I'm almost out of my Klonopin prescription which I usually take for these horrible experiences, so not wanting to have to face benzo withdrawal, I decided to save the benzos.
out of desperation I took about two grams of Gabapentin. I really didn't expect it to help much, but it did. While not completely getting rid of the hell of a spun out amphetamine crash, it sure softened it extremely. definitely to the point of taking a closer look.
does anyone know why this is helping on a pharmacological level?
I actually feel a tiny bit of euphoria with jaw clenching which is a huge turn around from the suicidal dysphoria I was in post administration of Gabapentin. I recommend it to people in this horrid situation. anyone else who shares this experience or who might be able to shed some light on why this is working?
note: the major bad side effect I have noticed from this combination is huge cognitive difficulty. While on amphetamine, I could pretty much write a doctoral thesis.. post Gabapentin I could hardly complete a sentence without having to plan it out first
