Gabapentin/body's processing

Hello everyone, cheers and hails from a long time lurker.
I'm concerned about wasting my meds. I am prescribed gabapentin 800 MG. Sometimes I take one tablet every 6 hours or so. But there are times when I need a boost, or I had a hard gym day, or just trying to cope with life and I will take 2 800mg tablets, then an hour later I'll take 1 more. Usually I'll take 2 or 3 more before the day is over. So let's say 6 a day (which is uncommon). But am I wasting medicine? I learned here that as you take more, the body processes less and less of it.
Any information would be helpful really.
I look forward to communicating with you all!

I’ve been told that you cannot process more than 300mg per hour.. dont know how correct this is but I’ve heard it from several sources

I've heard that many times as well. Recently I plugged in the Google machine and found a page called MED ED 101, and it says that gaba has an "inverse dose dependent absorption."
That's a mouthful, huh? It goes on to say that as you increase the dose, you get a lower percentage of the medication. I've seen that before, with numbers as well. Example: take 3 (70 % absorbed
Later on take 2 (55% absorbed)
Take one more later (33% absorbed)
The numbers are just an example, and not the actual percentages.

That seems like a heavy dose to be prescribed. The ideal dosing regimen for gabapentin is something like no more than 300 MG every hour or so, gradually increasing the dose over a period of time. Tolerance is a bitch on this class of drugs, so taking it every day is going to give muted effects and cause a physical dependence.

But it's the fact that both actively transported into the brain that seems more unusual. If could be the active transport that limits the total amount that will reach the brain.

I believe gabapentin is essentially excreted unchanged by the kidneys so I can see why there might be a calculated limit on excretion.

How often you should space and how much you should take at once before you space it out is highly debated but what's for certain is if you take anti-inflammatories or anything really acidic it will definitely factually increase the absorption just don't do it all the time because you don't want to take anti-inflammatories and stuff like that everyday

Be careful.
Gabapentin is super hard on your kidneys.
The dosage you are taking is dangerous to your kidneys.
You don’t want to have kidney failure.

Try breaking your pills in halves.
If you feel like you need a bit more, take a half instead of another full pill.
