The results are in. Run off in two weeks with Macron favored.

(CNN)France's far-right leader Marine Le Pen will face a relative novice, the independence centrist Emmanuel Macron, in the final round of the country's presidential election, early projections suggest.

Fascinating stuff, the end result will either be status quo, or France moving away from Europe and (some suggest) more Russia friendly/less NATO friendly.

Macron's is a remarkable achievement, because he represents optimism.

Chaaaaaaaange! Sounds awfully familiar. We'll see what the French want.. optimism.. or some actual solutions.

So looks like a Macron walkover then. Or will Le Pen be able to win over some of the socialist/communist anti-EU crowd who voted for Melenchon?

what do you mean?
i oppose fascists no matter where they are - whether they're national front, golden dawn, kkk or some hillbilly Australian racists.
they're all equally toxic and divisive.

i think you're oversimplifying just a tad.
that's the kind of reductionist thinking racist demagogues rely upon. the far right do nothing but divide us.

And the far lest does nothing but flood our countries with refugees who either kill and rape or are down right terrorists pretending to be refugees. If those are my choices I choose far right every time.

^ false dilemma fallacy.

Not when I specifically say "If those are my choices". I don't agree with a lot of what far right represents. But currently it seems to be a lesser evil.

And looking at recent elections around the world I don't see all that many parties that represent middle ground. And I'm not surprised, after years of far left rule and what it caused people went far the other way.

Paradoxically one extreme leads to another. So now we start to see the rise of far right. The right gets the power, bashes the homosexuals, bans abortion, empowers the church, people get fed up they go left. The left goes to liberal over time which what we see now and people go back right.

Never ending back and forth. Like spokes on a wheel, this one’s on top and that one’s on top and on and on it spins. Maybe we need the WW3 to break the wheel.

I'm thinking it actually turns them on. A migrant in sweden just avoided jail for sodomising a teen girl. Now that is tolerance!
Sweden is done, the only thing that can help it is either a military coup or invasion by another country who didn't lose it's mind in the name of tolerance.

Poland going right wing with a government that sucks up to the church, Hungary building the wall. Trump in the US, brexit.
The left is to blame for the mess that we all face. They went to far with political correctness, to far with tolerance, to far with bashing traditional values. And the rise of far right is the consequence, If the left didn't go extreme, people wouldn't turn to the far right.

If I rob a shop with a knife a police comes, if I rob it with a gun more police comes. If an armed squad takes a bank you call the SWAT.
