hi i'm new to the forum.. well i've used bluelight quite a lot to get tons of useful information on all kinds of things, but couldn't find an answer to my question. I don't know if this has been covered before, but I tried a search (im using my cell so that may have something to do with it) and got no results, literally.

anyways here is my question with some stuff about myself:
I first experimented with opiates with smoking OC's, which was huge in my hometown, about 6 years ago. roughly a year after that I began smoking black tar, and that lasted about 4 1/2 years. so recently, 5 months or so, I began going the IV route. I was taught by someone who knew what they were doing. the black tar I've been getting here in the bay area is if much lower quality than of the tar back home, which is partially why I began IVing in the first place (just recently moved here from so cal) and is REALLY dark in the barrel. I just got a new hook and their gear is a much lighter brown and is MUCH easier to see the blood that I flag. so I know artery blood is supposed to be bright red and frothy and vein blood is dark. my question is: why is it when I hit a vein sometimes the blood is really dark and sometimes its brighter red? I know im not hitting an artery cause 1. the blood isn't frothy, 2. its not painful in anyway, 3. I still get a rush, and 4. there are no other signd of an artery hit (plunger being pushed back, ect.) when the blood is lighter color its not like SUPER bright more like the color associated with being "blood red" if you know what I mean. it doesn't happen all that often.. most of the time (I'd say 70% of the time) I get that nice really dark blood. so does anyone have any thoughts on why i'll occasionally get a brighter red blood when flagging in a vein?

What Captain Heroin said, plus it could also be:
- the level of iron in your blood (if you are anemic, then the blood will have less hemoglobin which is what colors the blood)
- the level of oxygen (and also carbon monoxide) in the blood
- the amount/concentration of the blood entering the syringe, like if you are hitting a fat healthy vein more blood rushes in than if you are hitting a smaller vein; or could also be affected by your blood pressure at the time, we have fluctuations in our blood pressure and circulation at different times of day and depending on sleep, nourishment, hydration, temperature, etc.
