HPPD (HAllucinogen PErsisting PErception Disorder)

I've had hppd since Setember 16, 1994 and I have not noted any significant improvment in my symtoms other those that came by time and adjustment.
I've tried supplements including Alpha Omega Fatty acids, nootropics, SSRI, Benzos and clonidine. All of which gave some minimal to moderate relief in this order Benzos>Clonidine>SSRI>Nootropics>Vitamins. However, when I stopped taking them I noticed no long term improvment and my symtoms were as present or in some cases with SSRI's more present than previous.
Then again I have talked to enough people that have had remissions in symptoms from different concoctions and I totally encourage anybodies own successes with medicating themselves. For instance most people have their symtoms increase with stimulants where as mine will be less present when I take them. I think this is mostly becasue I can become more focussed on what I should be working on than watching people with halos walking by.
I would like to defend HPPD to clarify its severity. A key aspect of HPPD is the distress thats involved with the disorder. I remeber getting in a discussion with Neural Shock year or two ago disputing who would actually be diagnosed with this disorder.
Many drug users will experience episodic hallucinations similiar to that of a HPPD'er. THe biggest difference between a HPPD'er and a person experiencing post drug use hallucinations is that those with HPPD, their hallucinations interfere with normal everyday functioning. I have known some HPPD'ers that have no tolerance to any sort of light (indoor or outdoor) and will only work night shifts or some that have their disorder dominate their lives so much that they can do nothing socially.
Keep in mind that in the DSM IV the diagnosis requires that no current toxicity is present and the hallucinations are causing distress. To the average drug user with visual disturabances usually their visuals are sorta cool, no big deal and they can easily snap out of them.
I know that a lot of people will disagree with me on this one but there is a big difference between a person that can make a wall swirl by staring at it for 30 seconds is much different from what the average HPPD'er goes through.
