I saw The Fall last night. First off, it is easily the most visually astounding film I have ever seen. Apparently, it was filmed in 15 different countries, much of that filming worked into projects and commercials director Tarsem was shooting on location over the last few years. There are countless breathtaking landscapes and scenes shot at the Great Pyramids and the Taj Mahal, and the costumes are a sumptuous riot of color.

The story is good, although it dragged a bit in the last half hour. The cinematography is brilliant, almost Kubrickian.

I give it three out of four stars.

^ yah, pretty gnarly movie... as u say visually magnificent. the surgery scene that was stop motion animation was sick. epic eye candy

story was solid... tho a lil predictable imo

i fell asleep after, and i had this crazy dream that took place in a similar location as the story in the movie, twas awesome.

whatever it is, tarsem has it... stoked to see what he does next.

The little girl, Catinca Untaru, should have won an Oscar for her role in this. One of the best films I've seen in the last half-decade and subject matter well suited for this board. Don't seek out a synopsis; just get it and watch it. Easy five stars.

^i agree! i've watched it a few times in the past week, and it's easily one of THE BEST movies i've ever watched. that girl totally steals the show; i've never been so mesmorized by a child actor in my life. at no point do you feel like you are watching a kid recite lines; her delivery is amazing.

the plot sucks you in from the opening scene, and i don't think it loses momentum at any point in the movie. between the costumes, the characters and the amazing locations, i found it to be flawless. I can't figure out the "R" rating, though. PG definitely, but for the most recent Batman to be a PG13, this is so below that on the disturbing level. Yes, there is some mature content (and i won't even give any away for those who haven't seen it), but it's nothing compared to the violence and level of darkness that many action and horror films get by with today under a lesser rating.

the fact that this movie actually makes me want to travel, just to see first hand some of the locations, says a lot about the asthetics. and for me to go out and actually BUY a movie (something i've only done once, ever!) says a lot more. this is one i really want to own, not download, because i'd probably feel guilty stealing it.

visual masterpiece

and what i had been wondering during the whole movie :
The director claims that there are no special effects in the film despite its surreal looks. Everything was shot on real locations.

Baraka, improved, made into a movie

Visual masterpiece is right . . I enjoyed it . . quite a moving movie

excellent film. the little girl was great. the story, whilst silly at times, works very well. 4/5
