WARNING: this might be somewhat of a SPOILER
I *finally* got to see this movie. I had been wanting to rent it since it came out, but it's been checked out every time I go to the video store. Anyway, after having just watched it I found it pretty interesting to read back over other people's comments on the movie.
WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT:
Well, from what I had heard about it I didn't have real high expectations on the movie. I wasn't really impressed or dissapointed I guess. As a tweaker, I could relate to a lot of parts of it---almost too well---to the point where I found myself thinking, "It's bad enough putting up with all this tweaker bullshit and waiting in real life. Why do I want to sit down and watch it in a movie?"
I thought it was incredibly lame the way the movie portrayed their reaction every time someone would snort a line and the way it would show the eyes and the sounds were annoying. And the fact that except for the one guy that shot-up and the one chick that smoked it, EVERYONE snorted it. Personally, I don't know that many people that snort glass. Glass isn't meant to be snorted. And if you do snort it, maybe this is just me, but don't you wanna try to crush it up as fine as possible first??? Who wants big shards going up their nose? lol
And somebody else already mentioned that the movie lacked shadow-people. I agree! I mean, what tweaker movie doesn't show shadow-people! haha.
I couldn't stand that bitch that always wore her pajamas, but the other chick (with the little green dog) was good in the movie I thought. I actually didn't think any of the characters seemed overly exagerated. The acting seemed good to me. There were a couple things that were EXTREMELY fucked up. I mean, fucked up things happen in real life so I guess it was all right, but I thought the part where that one guy left that poor girl tied up to the bed for 3 or 4 days was a little insane. I mean, for the context of the movie, it seemed a little TOO fucked up. And the dumbass kid that snitched on his friends and wore a wire into their house---that was just so fucked up it pissed me off. But I know that happens all the time---at least around my town it seems to. He was a stupid kid though so he deserved everything he got.
Anyway, i'm glad I watched the movie, but it's not the kinda movie I'll wanna watch all the time. It's too much like REAL tweaker life. And that's the life I'm trying to get away from.
