I cant wait for this movie !!!!

omg

I agree.
That game scared the shit out of me. x.x
and the movie trailer looks really fucking good.
Though i am saddened that they didn't follow the game all that well,
but, hey,
if it all work out, then i'll be happy.

btw, those movie posters ... are incredibly disturbing,
I love them

The entire series, while not the best in terms of control is some of the most unique survival/horror gaming ever made. Resident Evil is a bit more action-oriented, but Silent Hill has always had the best plotlines and the best, most intense imagry.

I can't fucking wait to see this. If they did the whole Silent Hill legacy as a series, assuming it's succesful, that would rule.

Silent Hill 4 might not work out to well, but 1-3 would definately be good.

My roomate bought #3, said "Play it alone, w/ the lights out." Quite and experience. I went out and bought 1 & 2 used the next week.

This could turn out poorly though; traditionaly video-game-to-movie adaptations are very disapointing (again, Resident Evil is a perfect example of what not to do...). Keeping my fingers crossed!

i'm not really into video games at all, but this is one that i did get kind of into, and it scared the fuck out of me several times. needless to say, i'm looking forward to the movie. hopefully it won't suck.

The trailors look promising, at least the one I saw at the theatre while waiting to see The Hills Have Eyes, but it will all be for nothing if it gets a PG-13 rating instead of R.

PG-13 horror movies are useless.

Looks like it got itself an R. I agree "safe" horror is pointless.

It's definately not PG-13 material, it was an M-Rated game. So they made the right choice going w/ presenting R-rated material.

The series was never a gigantic seller like others in the genre, so going pg-13 for mass appeal wouldn't have done any good. I think the games do better in Japan than the US.

Judging from the trailers, this is what hollywood or whatever should have done with the resident evil movies.

Anybody play RE1? It had the cheesy horror B-movie opening? I bet you if a whole resident evil movie was made like that, it would blow the actual resident evil movies out of the water.

Anyways, I'm still skeptical about this movie. Has there ever really been a good movie based on a videogame? (Not about videogames).

But I'm going to see this opening night supah blazed with highhh hopes.

As far as quality film based on a video game, I enjoyed Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, but that one seems to be a love it or hate it kind of thing. I honestly can't think of another one.

I agree any movie based on a video game is usually terrible. The reason being that their target audience is 13-17, and well they don't seem to have the best taste in film.

To be fair, The Spirits Within wasn't based of an actual game to my knowledge. There was, however, a direct to DVD release of a Final Fantasy VII sequel called Advent Children that I saw not too long ago. I liked both movies, although the FFVII sequel had zero character development, a lot of sweet eye candy, and not much else, it was still interesting, especially if you played the game.

Anyway, judging from the characters above this movie looks like it could be pretty sweet.

Oh ok, you're actually referring to a direct transfer of game to film rather than the game concept being visualized as a film, gotcha. Yeah that narrows down the field even further, I remember enjoying the first Mortal Kombat for what it was back when I was 13 I think Metal Gear would make a good film, but then again the entire Metal Gear line are almost movies anyway.

yeah I've seen a rip of Advent Children, it was interesting to look at but completely lacked substance.

I'm still waiting for Pong the movie, it better be restricted!

oh my god that game with the fog and the static radio was scary as fuck. i never made it out of the elementary school becuase of all those zombie children poppin up behind you

anyone play parasite eve, i thought that series was way better than resident evil and silent hill

Parasite Eve was essentially a combination of survival horror w/ more traditional Japanese RPG. But as far as plot goes I found it a bit more slow and the overall gaming slow compared to Silent Hill or R.E. titles. I'd say it was better than that annoying attempt at survival horror Siren though, that's for sure.

Metal Gear as a movie? Yeah, the effectively already are. MGS3 has that whole "Japanese take on James Bond and Rambo"-feel all in one. :D

The pong movie? I dunno, I think todays crowd wouldn't go for it. Tetris: The Movie might be more inspiring (and more colorful). ;)

I've only played silent hill 4, but that little preview thing atthe beginning always made me think it'd make a good movie. This movie preview makes it look too general hollywood horror though.

thank god Uwe bowel-movement is in no way, shape, or form involved in this!

^^agreed. Everything he's touched sucks. All his movies also get bad metal soundtracks to boot.

He ruined House of the Dead too. Another video game that DIDN'T need to be a movie.

I never played the game, but all the people i talked to who did, said it was the only game in their life they ever played that actually scared them.

I cant wait to go see this shit, when does it come out again?
