kickass movie, was it not totally believable that these guys were best friends for years? the book is a lot better, however the audio commenraty on this dvd, is the funniest i have heard for a coupe of years.:)

I gave it a 3/4, it was pretty good. Like a few other people said, I think I would have liked it more if I was about 15 years older. It seems to be targeted to the 35+ crowd.

This film moved me in so many ways, the performances were so clever, and so realistic, I thought it was Payne's best movie yet, and I like his other movies as well. Great comedy/drama loved it all!

is that proper english comedy/drama, does the backslash mean and/or b/c its not and or, its both, get it?

This movie was awsome and Mr. Church was awsome and it was not middle of the road, it was up there with About Schmidt and Election and Payne is this really great actors director who doesn't screw around with middle of the road scripts.

I can see that it was marketed towards an older crowd but I don't get how because your young you can't "get it" or connect to it. It was funny and sweet and entertaining and the characters were very tangable and interesting. Also I don't think Church's character shouldn't be totally written off as a total douche bag because he definately pushed Miles out of his funk by setting up the date with Mya and killing off any hope that Miles could get back together with his ex wife.

i loved maya's speech about why she is into wine. made me wish i was drinking some right then.

heh, i actually liked giamatti's speech about why he likes the grapes that are difficult to grow more :) either way though that brings me to the point of how great i think the script and acting in this was. the whole film had this real natural and comical feel to it, which is not something that's easy to full off.

really glad i picked this one up.

^^ Yeah, I think natural is totally the way to describe this film. It can be read on the surface as a nice light hearted comedy. Or can be more seriously be looked at within the characters as they struggle with certain emotions and thoughts.

This movie made me crave a good bottle of wine like a bitch and I don't even like wine. That's it though.

I think I watched about 40 minutes of this movie before I had to turn it off. I've seen the beginning of pleanty of comedy movies that weren't funny, but this was one of the few that I didn't even notice what was supposed to be funny.
I am not drinking fucking chardonnay? right.
An anxiety stricken man and his confident friend, who tells him what to do and also wants to get laid before his wedding, drives around drinking wine and doing stupid shit. I'm surprised everyone thinks this was made for an older audience, I thought a child wrote it.

I thought Sideways was fantastic. The friendship between Miles and Jack was wholly believeable and I enjoyed the nerd wine humor throughout the film. My favorite scene is most definitely when Miles is in the shitty burger joint guzzling that '68 Pinot he was saving from a styrofoam cup.
