^^ You know I have seen that bad late 90's capoeira movie.

And that was better than Oceans 12.

spoiler

i just saw it and i'm perplexed

am i stupid or does it make absolutely no sense that they would try to steal the fake egg (and risk to actually end up and stay in prison) after they stole the real one!?

please tell me i'm stupid, i'd really hate for the producers to have spent millions on a movie that has a loophole half the size of the movie

^spoiler

and it's cuz the point was who was better. that means taking huge risks lightly. the point was that the other guy was so cocky, he had to be really put in his place.

really liked this movie.. ocean's 11 was so feel-good, and so was this one. I love that catherine zeta jones didn't suck as a new character, which is what i thought when i saw her at the beginning...

yeah the point of this movie wasn't to be dramatic or clever or deal with good vs. evil.. it was just to FEEL GOOD.. having criminals stick it to the man in the most ridiculous way possible and always get away with it.. luv it

i warned about the spoiler in the title
more spoilers

the pride contest is latour's motivation only
the others only want to get the egg, be it from the museum or from the train, to get latour's price.
proof : they didn't surpass latour at all since they weren't able to steal the egg from the museum and still "won" because they stole the real one from the train
so it's not justified that they would take the huge risk of all ending up in jail if they knew they didn't need anything more than what they already had (the egg) to win the terms of the contest

which by the way makes little sense about lemarcq's idea of the contest since he only tells ocean's crew about the real egg.
by doing so he doesn't give any chance to latour of wining

other thing that doesn't make sense. latour claims to have stolen an egg from the museum (and it might be true since his explanation fits the scene where he's seen training capoira.
but why would then another egg still be there when ocean's crew tries to steal it. latour for sure wasn't holding any copy when he passed the lasers, so he didn't replace it with a fake one.
if the egg had been stolen, the museum might replace it by a fake one but wouldn't expect the crew they knew wanted to steal to try again.

and others things like how they get in one day the equipement to raise a house, a vacant plane seat in the next hours... but that's considered normal in today's cinema

^ it's artistic license.

if film makers limited themselves only to what's possible in the real world, movies would be pretty mundane.

i watch movies - in part - to escape. if movies are simply a faithful reproduction of what happens off-screen, what's the point?

yes, i don't care too much about the credibility of certain things (like finding the equipement in one day)

but i do care when the senario is so excessively flawed
it wouldn't have been hard to rethink the senario to keep the museum scene and to have them win in the end

it also wouldn't have been hard to rethink the scenario so that breaking in the house also envolved a very cleaver trick but didn't require equipement that there is no way they could find, buy, get transported, boarded on the boat and installed under the house (note the river that goes under the house) in such a short time

some movies manage very well the "it's impossible but he still does it". some james bonds come to mind
but i'm getting tired of the ones that put no effort at all in the credibility of the story. hey hop, he falls 15m, lands on his back, stands up and kills the bad guy!

it was in amsterdam - of course the house was on water!

^^ it's not my fault, it's my teachers who were really bad
oh! what's that under the bed? my brain!

on the contrary, thanks. you made me more cultured than i was yesterday

i actually wondered about it when i posted but quickly jumped to the conclusion that such big houses probably hadn't been built on piles
and since i don't smoke, i never was really interested in amsterdam's architecture (everyone follows the logic?)

and as once said a professor, don't be ashamed of asking something. because if you don't know it, half the class probably doesn't either
... which makes me conclude that "fuck! if you hadn't mentioned it, almost no one would have noticed" ;)
(well, not too many people noticed that they spent half the movie trying to steal a copy of an egg that they had already stolen)

I loved this movie!!!!!

I just saw it last night and I totally loved it, just my sort of movie.

I saw this last week and I was dissapointed by it (we are getting movies later and later over here). The plot was all over the place and you never really felt *into* the robberies the way you were in the original, never really got me excited knowing they were going to steal things, and like al said some of the characters just seemed to be there because they were in the first and had not much else to do with the movie, and the "Julia Roberts" scene was just appaling.

Having said that I liked Catherine Zeta Jones in this, I liked her character and the little story that unfolded with it, and it helped that she looked hot too ;)

Only gets a 1 from me!

I thought the soundtrack was much cooler than the movie. It seems the cast just partied in amsterdam at the expense of making a good movie. By the way, anyone knows who plays the in a gadda davida version in the movie?

lmao i just saw this on DVD ..it was thoroughly entertaining but i am still a little bit perplexed about a few scenes (welp...gotta watch it again when im not too drunk!! ;))
