OK, this movie was mediocre at best.

The positive: Napolions character was dynamite! He was the confident, obnoxious, moronic, totally dellusional type of geek who really believes they have found what they want in life, when in fact they are deeply usatisfied but not able to admit it. He had some legendary one liners to boot. As a character study, this film made interesting viewing, i am not a big fan of southpark, but i will use Cartman as an analogy here. Sometimes, the most unlikable, dispicable, hate filled, messed up characters with enormous parental issues make the best viewing! Both characters were the best aspect of both forms of entertainment by a long way... There is more positive, but i can't be arsed to go into it.

The negative: Primarily, the film had no direction whatsoever, no plot, no purpose for being, no message, no meaning etc...It was simply a character study. The subplots were pointless, unconnected, dragged out, random, without being funny, and being random and funny IS an art. The film went nowhere fast (nowhere at all in fact!), and left me with no overriding message, except maybe that girls like guys with skills. LOL. The audience is not encouraged to care about the fate of any of the characters because almost none of them are likeable, honourable, or moral people. Now these types of characters can, and did make enjoyable viewing, but you don't really give a shit whether or not they succeed and prosper in the end!

I could go on, but i think many people enjoyed this because they liked seeing what ridiculous act the lead character would do next. I appreciate this, he acted it like a pro, totally believable uber geek. But the film had almost nothing else to offer.

In short, to quote from www.homestarrunner.com, NOT LAST PLACE!

I laughed alot at some scenes, but about half way through the movie I started getting a little annoyed that it wasn't really going anywhere.

So I think it has alot of very funny dialogue but overall a crap story that isnt that engaging or interesting.

Does anyone else see an age and/or cultural dichotomy in this film's appeal? Of course it's not a solid theory but it seems to be mostly true.

This is one of the definitive love-it-or-hate-it movies of our generation, IMO.

Im sorry i cant rate this movie untill there is a - next to a row of 10 stars

It was funny in the summer of 2004

However, I never need to see it ever again
