we rented this last week. it stars elijah wood, who, btw, has grown up to look awfully creepy. he looks the same as his character in sin city.

he plays a 20-something jew. he's a "collector". he finds randoms objects that remind him of his fmaily members and he puts them in ziploc bags. he then tacks them onto the wall underneath their photograph. his grandfather was saved by some woman named "augustine" when he was stationed in ukraine during ww2. he has a photograph of his grandfather with this woman. elijah's character, jonathan, goes to ukraine to find this woman. he is then toured about the ukraine countryside by a crotchety, "blind" old man, and his grandson.

anyway, i loved it. the scenes were beautiful. it was cute, kooky, and funny. it was also very heart-felt and sad. for some reason, it had the exact same feel as the station agent, to me. ::shrug::

go rent it.

I have the book, which I have been meaning to read for quite a while now. Wasn't aware there was a movie too, but I'll have to rent it after I finally finish reading the book! :)
