*Other mother in full fledged witch mode was horrifyingly perfect and a joy to watch haha.[/Quote]

To me the 'other mother' starting looking more and more like Teri Hatcher(who did her voice of course) as she went into witch mode. =D

visually dazzling, story was decent enough.i can def see kids getting freaked out by some scenes, especially towards the end... hell some scenes gave me chills like first time i seen the other mother with her button eyes. cool movie and perfect soundtrack.

btw just found out the voice of miss spink was jennifer saunders (eddy from ab fab) i like it even more now ;D

I still haven't seen it, unfortunately now ill be waiting for the dvd, but hey, ill be able to make it quite enjoyable at home heehee

This film was fantastic. Very dark and I too loved the deeper meaning/message regarding the 'grass is greener' syndrome. Came at a perfect time for my oldest son. ;)

Visually stunning, great soundtrack, story was captivating and the characters were entertaining.

I also felt that the real mother was oddly detached and lacked emotion. It really bothered me at the beginning of the movie; I kept thinking they had to be doing this for a reason. It still kind of bugs me, but I came to the conclusion that it only showed even further that parents are human and get caught up in their own worlds too.

They had just moved and had a lot of 'adult' issues being dealt with in the beginning. Kids often can't see that and I think that was the perspective being shown - the one of Coraline. By the end they mended and things began to normalize a bit (the gardening, the gloves, etc.)

i liked Coraline it was good

did anyone feel like it could have been a metaphor for Opiate addiction or addiction in general?

maybe it is cuz im goin through opiate addiction but i saw some corralations and felt it could be seen as similar to opiate addiction in the same way that alot of love poems can often seem like addiction poems ?

so maybe nt directly but to an extent i felt like it could be used to describe opiates until the end. at the end i felt like my theory started to crumble and didnt make much sense and that i was really forcing the connecting but for the most part of the movie i saw some sort of connection.

so i guess i am just asking if anyone else got the same vibe? also if you did or didnt have you gone through addiction yourself? anyways this isnt important just something i thought id share cuz it was kinda neat for me and stuff.

also i saw this thread the other day n it reminded me of how much i wanted to see coraline and how i had forgotten to do so yet so i was glad i did.

i wanted to see it on acid but after deciding against it i guess i almost decided not to see it at all glad i didnt

I loved this movie. One of my friends had the brilliant idea of playing it when we were tripping on 2C-E--I hadn't even heard of it before he started playing it. Needless to say we both flipped our shit. Beautiful CGI.
