Film: Cabin Fever

I saw this flick at a free sneak preview last night. This is a horror movie in the old-school slasher genre. It is really *really* gross and gooey and is also pretty damn hilarious. It's even got that "We are here just to entertain you, so don't bother asking how come certain things never get explained" mentality that makes horror films such pure fun to watch.

Great movie to see with a big group of friends where you can just laugh and be silly for under two hours.

Recommended! :)

Agreed. Such a great movie. Horror, comedy, sex, violence, guns, drugs, gore, beer, freaky backwater people, pancakes...

True, but I really would like to know where this thing started... And what's going to happen after... But I suppose we can't know everything.

Good for a laugh and a scare. Well worth the $7.50 to see in the theater.

And what was the deal with the kid on the bench?

And what was in that box that the locals had???

Cabin Fever was a decent flick

I thought that the movie was decent. It was nothing spectacular but worth the price of admission (especially at the discount $6 theatre by me). My brother in law hated it, my wife thought it was kinda shitty but I loved it.
If you love horror (and have the common sense to get a nice buzz on before the flick) you should enjoy it.

I saw Once Upon a Time in Mexico in the same weekend and thought it was a little better (totally different genre of film).

I hope they keep cranking out horror flicks- always good for stupid mind numbing fun.

Not a bad film...as long as you don't go in expecting too much. I liked how it incorporated lots (LOTS) of blood and gore, and also some quite funny lines. Though, if anything, this film has some major plot holes (which usually drives me nuts)...but, surprisingly, I liked this film...even though it did not provoke any thought whatsoever ;)

^^that was one of the best parts...really freaked me out. She is shaving her legs and the skin is coming off with the razor *shudder*...also when the girl's face gets chewed off...hehe...awesome.

The best part in this film was the kicking deer legs in the window. My friend and I and one other couple were the only people in the theatre (it was 10pm on a Monday night), and I swear the laughter was roaring.

I thought it was more along the funny side than actually scary, but the girl shaving was awful. Made me cringe.

Cabin Fever is a great film.

It starts out being so bad that it is offensive. It's one boring teen horror cliche after another. The same characters you'd expect to see in any stupid horror flick spouting the same dialogue with the same conflicts and dilemmas etc etc.

At some point in the movie, everything does a complete 180, but it is so sublte and well written that you don't even realize it. The gore and camp of the second and third acts more than make up for the bullshit of the first.

It's not the most brilliant movie ever made, it's far from the most clever movie ever made, but it IS a fun, funny, gory and overall enjoyable movie. Almost a throwback to Peter Jackson's days in horror. Lots of bad taste.

Adios,
Steve

Oh my God, I almost fell out of my chair during the scene w/ the spasmodic kid in front of the store.

"Pancakes, fucking pancaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakes!"

Instant classic.

After watching the DVD screener and seeing the film for the 2nd time I realized the answer to your questions.

The locals had the REAL CURE for the virus in the box, or vise versa.

The Kid On the bench was really the 4th member of the groub HANSON . Unfortunately he was kicked out of the group because his only line during songs was the word "Pancakes".
He was also kicked out of the Matrix Sequal auditions.
Poor kid! He better stick to the one thing he does best.....
BITING PEOPLE!

I just bought this on DVD, and I enjoy it more and more every time I watch it. This movie is pure genius, and I can only hope to make something as clever someday.

Adios,
Steve

I will buy this DVD. This movie was soooo good! In 20 years, it will be cult classsic.

Did I mention that I am reallllllly drunkj rioght now???

PANCAKESSSSSS!

The most sick part in this flick is when he is fingerin the blonde chick and he brings his hand back up into view and his hand is covered in that bloody gunk. The DVD has a great feature on it called "Rotten Fruit". Its 3 animated shorts about this rock band made of fruits and the Bannana for some reason is all nutting all over the place. I swear you will have that theme song in your head for days!

Girl:
Oh whats that gun for?

Creepy old man:
Oh thats for niggers

Latter in the movie

Creepy old man:
Well howdy niggers how yall doin, I can't do it like yall

we watched this last monday at school, since it was one of the last days before exams. some truely funny moments, but the best was the deer's legs through the windshield. non-stop laughing for a good 30 seconds.

i cringed a fair bit, during the shaving part mostly, and when he was fingering his girlfriend. they were fairly long scenes too, and it was obvious where they were going from the start, so it really added to the cringe-factor.

at first i hated this, pretty much everyone in the room laughed at the ending, how it really drilled it into your head. but the more i think about the movie, the better it gets.

i really wasn't very keen on this at all. i love the idea, and roth's passion in creating a wall-to-wall, horrible bloody horror film, but i just didn't *enjoy* it, and i guess that's what it comes down to in the end.
