you and I will always know
I'm a fan. Modified fight system. Nice visuals. Good story so far. Paradigm shift is sweet.

Cons would be the game is quite linear so far. I've read many reviews that all say this changes half way through but, i don't know. At the same time it works and I'm not bored just wanting a little freedom.

Other than that the bosses can seem insanely difficult. Often killing you in seconds. Even worse killing you seemingly illogically 20 minutes into a grind.

All in all 8.7 out of 10 so far. Anyone else?

Haven't played it yet, will probably be a while until I do...

But from the trailer, I am more repulsed than I am attracted...

From the getgo, the game is obviously designed by the same kooky fags that made FFX-2. The characters seem very predictable and uninspiring.

The one thing that redeems it is that the trailer hints at the return of Alexander, my favourite summon, and sadly absent since FFIX. Also, the world seems to be nicely designed.

Overall, I'm not really in a hurry to try it - or FFXIV "online" for that matter - anytime soon...

Hopefully, FFXV will be worked-on by the same brilliant people who made Tactics, FFXII, and Vagrant Story.

p.s. Oh, and Shiva as a motorbike. I mean who but the Japs could think of such things? :D

I can confirm Alexander. The summons are different in this though. Alexander is an eidolon specifically summoned by a boy named Hope. Each character has one eidolon (summon). If you're familiar with the manga/anime bleach the eidolons are not unlike the zanpakutou.

The story is basically a cliche damsel in distress with world in peril. Still its well done IMHO

I would like to play if I had the technology to do so. I played the PS1 ones and they changed my life seriously. 7 and 9 were absolute masterpieces that really changed the way I thought about the world. Gave me more of a "fantasy" perspective, funny enough...

yeah i just realized each character only gets one summon...and that theyre somehow also vehicles. glad to see im not the only alexander fan here. i have fond memories of puzzling for hours playing ffvi trying to decied if alexander was a robot, a giant, or a castle which was somehow firing holy power from its eyes(?)

but i still cant wait to play this. however the thread title should be "leona lewis: hot or not?"

^ LMAO me too!!!

I think it is the latter. In FFIX, Alexander is actually a living castle (that fires holy beems from its shoulders). This appears to be the case with his manifestations in older FFs, and is very apparent if you look at Amano's hand-drawn illustrations.

Now, the one thing I am still very, very confused about: What in heaven's name is the GF "Eden" from FFVIII?

eden6.jpg

It looks to me like a spaceship with boobs and a cape...

i figured it was a huge garden...you know..since the schools in viii were called "gardens" and it was probably a ridiculous pun taken too far. as in they decided to make the pun attack enemies with an interdimensional void or whatever Eden did in that game.

gotta love GFs, eidolons, summons, whatever you want to call them. just dont call them "Yarhi" like they were called in ff xii: revenant wings. "gotta summon some more tonberry yarhi!" doesnt sound as intimidating as calling out Odin.

I've heard mixed reviews on this one, but I've played every other FF game there is. How can a fan of the series not want this game? It looks amazing! I'm going to Best Buy tomo.

I'm enjoying it so far. The first few chapters are a little slow but once the game gives you full control of the [excellent] battle system it really starts to pick up. Despite transforming into vehicles/horses/castles the summons are actually pretty cool and well implemented. The story is really weak so far but I've heard that it gets much better. The level up / skill system is almost identical to FFX (no complaints here).

So far I'm definitely enjoying it more than FFXII. The nicest thing about the game is that is moves along at a brisk pace. The areas always change before you start getting overly bored with them. No endless dungeon crawling.

From what I gather I'm about 3/4 of the way through. The game is still a good time. The cuts are enjoyable. The story on the other hand could use some work. Its just plain cheesy in parts and I find myself laughing a bit during the most serious points. I have a suspicion that something is lost in the voice acting and maybe it'd be better in Japanese with subs.

It is a good time though. I really dig the paradigm shift still. The weird thing is I appear to be pretty far yet I only have the eidolons of 3 characters. The game is still very linear so maybe it goes on after the 13th chapter.

I like it. I'm a big fan of the ATB battle system.. my favorite is still ff iv, the ds remake was good as well as the sequel for wiiware (ff:iv the after years). FFXIII's battle system is pretty fun though, I always play any ff's with ATB on, and the battle speed on the fastest it can go, and ffxiii seems to keep up with how I like to play the game. The bosses are hard, not too much exploring to do yet.

Paradigm shifts are cool but I honestly miss being able to control every character, but it still works. Some annoying things for me is 1. the weapon upgrade system. 2. No currency after battles and how all that works, etc. I don't mind the upgraded sphere grid though which you need cp for.

I am now in the open world. Its way different. Almost 2 games in one.

I could do without the weapon upgrades too. I just evolved one of lightnings weapons which pretty much cleaned me out of gil.

The story has gotten better though IMO. I like the game a lot but, there have been better ones for sure. I am compelled to keep playing regardless because I have to complete it before a guy I work with. He absolutely ruined me in a race to the finish in dragon age.
