I found is always better to not volunteer anything unless failure to disclose is going to result in your immediate sickness or death from a potential substance interaction.

Secondly, there is an injectable generic ketamine that has been administered subcutaneously that is just as effective as the Uber expensive nasal spray ketamine.

The injectable is not covered by Australian Medicare, but I believe it may be covered by certain insurances, regardless for an entire course of treatment, which is apparently two injections a week for 4 weeks costs $1,150 including all the doctor visits and everything.

Thank you for letting me know and the good advice. I worry about absolutely everything and was even worrying about if I should say I had it recreationally before once or twice and it helped my depression or not but I won't. I will just say I want to try ketamine as I heard good things about it and tried lots of other meds.

Do you know how to find a psychiatrist that will do the injections? If you know of any name starting points I would appreciate it if you could kindly let me know on here or through private message. If not I will ring around psychiatrists in my area but being from a "regional" area it might be hard to find someone.

I'm sorry, I'm not from Australia.

I live in the states. Perhaps start with the medical association for whatever state in Australia you live in. For example, I'm sure there's probably something like the New South Wales Physician Association.

I was seriously making that up but I did a quick google search and they're actually is

Editing to say that I rang and the woman said they are mainly an advocacy body for member doctors and for me to ring NSW Health. She gave me the number so I called them. They said I need to talk to the pharmaceutical area of them and put me through and I got put through to somewhere and the line cut out. So that's where I'm at. I will have to google the NSW Health pharmacy number to get back through.

Thank you so much. I have emailed them again but like I replied I have definitely emailed the blackdog institute before about ketamine therapy and been told to see my GP or similar. I have been chasing this up for years on and off to no avail. I hope I get a break soon.

Do you know any friends that are vets as in veterinarians?

Drastic times. Call for drastic actions. If you know anybody that is in veterinary medicine, a vet would be preferred and you can get the dosing schedule for subcutaneous ketamine treatment for treatment resistant depression, it would probably be in your best interest to use veterinary ketamine subcutaneously for n number of sessions.

Or you could just get a very accurate milligram scale. Buy some special k and self-medicate.

Unfortunately I don't have anyone I know who is a vet. I got some years ago when silk road was big but stopped using it when bitcoins got very expensive and wouldn't even know how to navigate the dark web any more. I'm that much older and hate what I have heard about it. I did get a response from the blackdog institute though about how to get ketamine therapy. It's an ordeal where you need a psychiatrist who will refer you to them and it's expensive. I will paste their reply here:

Ketamine is used as treatment for depression only when a person has not responded to antidepressant medication or other treatments, and at present our clinic does not use this treatment for other conditions. Our clinic provides treatment for NSW residents over the age of 18.



As this is a very specialised form of treatment, it is important that we discuss with you what is involved and how you are screened for suitability before we accept your referral.



How to book an assessment to see if Ketamine treatment is right for you



  1. We will arrange a phone call with you to discuss some of the basic eligibility criteria with you and answer any further questions you may have about the treatment.


  1. If appropriate, after the call we will send you our referral information for your psychiatrist to complete. This includes
  1. Our referral form for Ketamine Treatment Program completed by your psychiatrist* * (do not have your psychiatrist fill in this referral form until after you have had your suitability call with us)
  2. a detailed referral letter from your psychiatrist* on their practice letterhead addressed to Neurostimulation Clinic outlining your:
- Psychiatric history

$1.5k, how long does the ketamine treatment help for ?

thats cheap compared to transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), i'm saving up for, i think it will cost around $4k, but it can be a cure for depression

I feel I want to check out when my mother dies which won't be too far in the future. Also I have to stick around for now for my cat. I want to be there for her.

You've found one reason to live. Do you know what a big deal that actually is? From there you'll find other reasons to live, just go easy on yourself, seek out a good therapist, heal yourself. Death's not worth it. I know it can seem like an option but we're all lucky to be alive. You'll get through it I know how hard it is after you've been depressed for a while everything just seems more bleak but just keep looking for more reasons to live, be good to yourself. Desvenlafaxine helped me a lot (I've been on other antidepressants which had really mixed results). But it helped me through a really tough time. No side effects either, I'm on the lowest dose and I don't regret starting it at all.
 
Also might be worth trying seroquel (50-100mg to start with). I know a few people who have had persistant depression and it's helped them a lot.

They will just admit you to a mental health facility if it's an emergency or let you talk to a counsellor or someone at an emergency at a hospital I think. I'm not certain how it works but they will just use the usual antidepressants more than likely.

Are you okay?
