I feel tired most of the time..
Are there known supplements out there that help with the tiredness/ lethargic symptoms....

I have the same problems. I've tried all kinds of different remedies. Sleep is only a small part of it seems like, which is really weird. I can try getting 7 hours of sleep, 8 or 9, up to even like 10 or 11 hours, and it seems that sleep is not a function of how I feel the next day unless I got a TERRIBLE night sleep of only like 4-6 hours. Sometimes I wake up refreshed from 7.5 hours, other times I feel groggy after 9.

I'm weary of using coffee to "cure" this problem, not only because I know it's really easy to develop a dependance on caffeine (from experience) but also after the coffee wears off you feel shittier than before, so the choice is to either drink it all day or avoid it altogether.

There's a supplement called ZMA which supposedly helps induce more restful sleep. Melatonin is another one which is actually natural. Stuff like Tylenol PM (diphenhydramine) is crap because although it knocks you out, it gives a groggy hangover the next day.

If you have any luck with this, please do share!

Caffeine works for me, i take three cups a day.

One breakfast one lunch and the last when i get home from work.

If your crashing of caffeine i reckon its because your having large amounts at once.

I find one cup gives me a mood lift and energy, more than that though and i do crash and feel shitty.

A bit of sugar in there too provides lots of energy in a form that our bodies can quickly use.

i get this all the time, caffeine and sugar are the worst things for it, the best way to get around it is a carefully regemented sleep schedule and eating and drinking the correct foods to balance the ph levels in your body.

A great author and all round great guy is "Deepak Chopra" his books have changed my life and i dont feel as fatigued as i used to do anymore

Something interesting about the ZMA mentioned, my bf took that for a while and said he had the most intense, vivid crazy dreams he has ever had in his life....so perhaps that stuff allows for a ton of REM sleep? i cant really suggest much for sleep help that would be accurate for normal drowsiness bc i have insomnia and so the things i do to sleep arent prob the best, but i do like to drink chamomile tea on a cold night and it relaxes me and its supposed to help relax you so you are able to sleep, so perhaps something else to try?

For me I get plent sleep... but I still feel tired... coffee is not an option. just quit... do docs usually prescribe something for this? If not, I looking for herbal suplments that are otc

well i mean there is provigil which you know can be prescribed for that, but id prob try something otc first and also i dont know how old you are but i tihnk most docs wont prescribe something until it has been a really long standing problem, esp the younger you are, bc it isnt techinically for "being tired" but can you not have coffee because of caffeine, or some other reason, bc there are caffeine pills, um, exercise and a good diet help give energy as well. are you possibly not eating enough or the right things? that can help wonders, or perhaps low blood sugar? that can make you feel drained as well.

Firstly, I'm gunna say this even though it's a bit obvious, get more sleep! This almost always helps increase energy, and if it doesn't, it probably won't decrease it. Secondly, eat plenty of carbohydrates in exquisite forms such as quinoa or amaranth. Eat vegetables and fruits, and small portions of meat if you desire.

Drink coffee; have a few cups throughout the day. But most importantly, drink lots and lots and lots and lots (!!) of water. Take multivitamins. Exercise. Spend plenty of time in deep meditation. Avoid drugs during the daytime. Do this and you will have more energy. :)

Vitamin b12 and Iron tablets should help with tiredness.

I think you should take a really good look at your diet.

I dont recommend drinking more than 1 coffee a day however, it will only make you more tired once it wears off.

When can one sleep though, if drugs are for the night?

I find that messing with my body clock and having a sleepless drug night is the worst thing by far. Better to do drugs in such a way that sleep can still be had.
Apart from that, sound advice there.

Though partly I am sure it's the weather.... Seasonal affective disorder & lethargy tend to go hand in hand for me when it's so dark out even during the day.

I used to have the same problem, I started doing an intensive work out three times a week as well as cutting out caffeine and smoking - made a big difference but still not quite enough. If I really want to feel wired I just won't set my alarm, my room has no natural light so I will sleep for like 12+ hours.

If I don't have the time to have a 12 hour sleep I'll take 2g of Phenibut a couple of hours before bed, unlike benzos or antihistamines (benadryl, restavit etc) it doesn't disturb your REM sleep so you will wake up the next day feeling like you have had a real good sleep. Don't take it regularly though because tolerance builds fast and it has bad rebound insomnia.

Make sure you have a good diet to give you plenty of low GI energy. If all else fails you could consider a stimulating antidepressant, but unless you are depressed that should be a last resort.

1- Have your THYROID checked out (TSH AND free t3 and t4). A huge amount of people suffer from mild hypothyroidism.

also check for hypoglycemia

As far as waking you up, Modafinil is the safest and most effective way. But if you are fighting a global body disorder, in the long run you'll just be even more tired.

1- sleep at regular hours, magnesium + melatonin for good sleep. sleep enough hours!
2- wake up early, sleeping during the day (siesta) is a good idea
3- try "thyroid energy" from bulknutrition.com. If this wakes you up, you might suffer from hypothyroid and need detox, iode, tyrosine etc etc.

I was feeling very tired a couple of months ago and I went to the doctors for a blood test and apparently my iron levels were really low and something about the blood not carrying hemoglobin or w/e. So yeh he told me to get Iron supplements and I take 2 a day and it's definitely helped me. I feel normal.

The tablets are like: Ferro-f-tab
Each tablet contains Ferrous Fumarate 310mg - equivalent to elemental iron 100mg
Folic acid 350ug

Ravr - do you do lots of stimulant type drugs? It sounds obvious, but I had this same problem last year, and it took me far too long to admit staying awake even just one whole night was making me tired the whole next week.
Also, try to keep your blood sugar steady, so eat low gi foods, grain bread instead of white, fruit instead of processed sugars etc.
