[This is an idea that may or may not work (but why not try it?) and any suggestions or comments are welcome. Hopefully there will be some participation here.
The idea is that we will have a featured artist of the week/month(?) for discussion. I will post an article (or more), artist's statement, bio about the artist, some pictures of the work, and we can have a discussion, share thoughts, critique, debate, whatever you think might get some discussion going. It could be anything from an old master to a contemporary artist making waves, to an unknown. The work could be any medium, definitely not limited in any way. Anyone is welcome to make a suggestion for an artist to cover here in the thread or by PM. I will set it up by whatever time frame we decide on.
Should this be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.? Will you participate? Good idea? Bad idea?]
Now for the first Featured Artist of the (?): Tim 'Pricasso' Patch

About the Artist:
The artist also does charcoal drawings, male and female nudes, commissions (and he'll send you a DVD of the creation process with it
), live performances, and much more. His home and studio are also works of art in progress. All of these are viewable from his website linked above.
Is this genius marketing? Is this asinine behavior? Do you love it, hate it, or something in between? Do you think his paintings and other works could stand on their own? Take it wherever you want, add your thoughts no matter how lighthearted or serious, the idea here is to generate discussion and participation - everyone is welcome.

ArticleAussie "Pricasso" opens sex fair
Friday September 28, 12:16 AM
Visitors to the opening day of Sexpo in South Africa have been treated to live demonstrations by Australian artist Tim Patch, alias "Pricasso," of his penis paintings of famous global figures.
Neither US President George W Bush, former British prime minister Tony Blair nor former Japanese prime minister Junichiro Koizumi were spared the rod as a naked but for a top hat Patch hammered out a series of surprisingly realistic depictions.
Lengthy queues had formed outside the Gallagher Estate in Midrand outside Johannesburg by mid-morning on the first day of the first sex-themed fair in a country with a puritanical past under apartheid.
The organisers of Sexpo Johannesburg have said they hope to attract 30,000 visitors to the four-day show that originated in Australia, which features a mix of workshops, exhibition stands and live performances.

Former Brisbane builder Tim Patch was finding it difficult to crack the art market until he dipped his quill in the ink, so to speak.
Under the artistic pseudonym "Pricasso", Patch uses his penis to paint portraits, landscapes and female nudes.
"I dip it in the paint and then apply it to the canvas," says the 56-year-old who grew up in England. "I began doing it at a party around Christmas time. Now I videotape all my work, because sometimes people don't believe me."
When the canvas became too rough on his "brush", he switched to paper, but has switched to a "smoothed-back canvas ... for a better effect".
He has painted portraits of John Howard and Kim Beazley and plans to unveil a portrait of Lord Mayor Clover Moore at this weekend's Sexpo.
Patch will also paint your portrait at the adult-entertainment event for $50-$100, depending on time taken.

ArticlePenis artist's work shocks father

QUEENSLAND painter Tim Patch says his father was less than impressed when he learned his son was gaining notoriety for a "penile art" portrait of Prime Minister John Howard.
"My dad is not too impressed. He shook his head and said, `Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear'," Mr Patch said.
The Gold Coast father of four today unveiled two portraits that he has painted using his penis as a brush, at the opening of Sexpo in Perth.
The first painting was of Prime Minister John Howard and the other of Opposition Leader Kim Beazley.
The former builder was drawing quick portraits in a market until recently.
"Then I told a friend I could paint with my d*** and she was really enthusiastic."
After revealing his talent at a party last New Year's Eve, Mr Patch decided he did better portraits that way and sent pictures to galleries.
"But nobody really wanted to know until I sent them to Sexpo and they loved it."
Mr Patch said he was still coming to terms with his newfound notoriety.
Sexpo is expecting a record crowd of more than 35,000 in Perth, potentially stealing Brisbane's crown as "Australia's Sexiest City" by attracting more visitors on a per capita basis.

In the beginning of time life forces were created with divine intervention, my art evolved spontaneously from basic mysterious forces surging through me, Stripped naked to the core unbounded by society's conventions I am at one with nature exposing primitive urges, all my senses converge, I feel the very roots of my creativity stirring rising up merging with the subjects inner beauty climaxing in uncontrollable waves of divine euphoria and my loins I create PENILE ART.
