Im going to have to go with the classic Akira, just because i have a huge god complex and that movie is like my wet dream :)

Ive not seen too many other anime with that type of theme. Anyone know of any?

On a side note i also like some of the dragonball z episodes although i know i will get ragged on for saying it hehe.
 
serial experiments:lain is kind of like the akira story, i guess...

dont really have a favorite anime, it changes with the mood.

Berserk
i enjoy some of the dragon ball z episodes
theres this one that i cant remember the name of, but its on late night and its totaly awsome, and the carchters have crazy eyebrows.

Ninja Scroll
And theres this movie that is my all time fave that no one knows about and ive only seen it on video in little tiny orivately owned video stores out in the boondox, and its called something like "the fire fairy and that water child" or something..... BAH... i shall never see again :(
 
Neon Genesis Evangelion, hands down

runners up: KareKano (his & her circumstances), FLCL, Rurouni Kenshin OAV, X, Serial Experiments: Lain

Now & Then, Here & There is another great series; Berserk was great up until the last few episodes; and Rurouni Kenshin tv is good, but it kinda has dragonball-syndrome (too drawn out/too much filler)

Gainax and Clamp are my 2 fav studios <3 :D

Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, Serial Experiments Lain, and Evangelion are all top contenders (though Akira is a move, not a series)....

Akira was the first anime I ever saw, back when the shitty Sci-Fi channel edited translation came out in the late 1980s.... I was a kid when I saw that and Vampire Hunter D for the first time, both blew me away.... the newer translation of Akira (the special DVD release) is a fucking LOT better

Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies.

Right now I'm eagerly waiting for Princess Mononoke to come in the mail.
 
Princess Mononoke is an amazing film. I was pretty surprised to see the stars that did the voice overs for the film... Its kinda funny too, cause the character that Billy Bob Thorton does the voice for kinda looks like him. Spirited Away was amazing to see in the theatre, beautiful drawing and animation
