A lot of people are too quick to shout "seizure" whenever they see someone twitch. It bothers me to no end, because a genuine seizure is not the same as muscle spasms or convulsions. I've seen people, and even myself, have convulsions from various different things, such as "the fainting game", fainting from other means, or even things such as powerful DMT experiences or heavy doses of certain opiates. Almost invariably, there is always someone there who shouts "HOLY SHIT (S)HE'S HAVING A SEIZURE!!!!"

Just because someone appears to twitch or flail does not mean they are having seizures! There are very specific symptoms associated with a seizure, and a most laymen cannot accurately differentiate a seizure from non-epileptic convulsions. Please do not jump to conclusions and say someone was "having a seizure" from taking a blotter unless they were told as much by a paramedic, physician, or otherwise qualified individual. The person could very easily have stood up too fast and suffered syncope, which is many times accompanied by muscle twitches while the person is unconscious. Its not an unheard-of experience, either sober or while under the influence of psychedelics, and I have heard of a few individuals who say it happens close to every time they trip.

What's the definition of a seizure really? Tonic clonic movements coupled with brief unconsciousness? Does a seizure always include loss of consciousness/impaired neurological function, otherwise it's called spasms/convulsions?
