i loved fear 1 and i am absolutely baffled at how they managed to screw this game up.
it looks really cool, sweet graphics, nifty effects. other than that, they took a very fun and interesting game and just ruined it. i blame level design.
the entire first game took place in office buildings, which some people complained about at the time. but they at least had multiple routes and different ways to attack a certain situation. fear 2 might have well been on rails. the combat lacks the pop of the first installment as well.
story wise, it lacks the immersion of the first title, and there was only one good scare i got, right at the beginning. no where near as creepy or scary as the first title.
the ending (not the final battle) was pretty neat.
ugh, i was really psyched about this game, and was let down terribly. i went back and started playing fear 1 right after i beat 2 just to make sure nostalgia wasnt clouding my judgment, it wasnt, fear 1 still kicks ass.
overall id give it a 3 out of five, nothing spectacular, wasnt broken. just doesnt live up to its predecessor.
