Expanded perlite as a Vaporising/Smoking medium?

Has anyone heard of expanded perlite being used as a sort of inert medium to vaporise or smoke various substances on? using it instead of mesh in a vaporiser or bong cone piece perhaps?
eg. Crack, or resins, or oils, or even powders that melt....
Im pretty sure that no amount of heat applied by a human hand would alter it in any way, but I dont know if it releases anything as it heats... or perhaps reacts with certain chemicals if they are heated together....
Ive done some googling and cant find any mention of it being used for this purpose, so figured this would be a good place to ask!

Thoughts or ideas anyone?

Hrm...It's made up of various oxides and water, and seems to have a 10% loss (in mass? idk) upon ignition, some of which being the water. Some being the operative word here, implies that the other chemicals that make up this substance are released (whole? idk.).

Calling sekio..... ;)

well after a few experiments, tests have been quite successful.
Using a vapo-bowl on a bong, MDPV seems to leave behind certain by -products of the semi-vape/combustion which just absorbes into the very pourous perlite, Which can then be discardered (theoretically - with harm minimization in mind.
Due to its pourus nature, im wondering if it could be used to absorb certain solutions and/or chemicals which are oils/liquids (eg. MDPV in freebase form, hash oil etc.)
I cant find ANY reference to ANYONE using perlite for either of these purposes and would love to here from anyone who has tried perlite as a medium or has any theories or comments!

I would rather use vermiculite which has a similar function as perilite but is an absorbent mineral

I think this is a bad idea. The first thing that comes to mind is silicosis because I have background in sandblasting with silica sand and I'm sure it's just as bad as breathing in perlite (I don't know what you'd call that ... Perlitcosis???) but it's advised to wear a very good dust mask/ ventilator even when handling perlite and it's fine dust will definitely fuck up your lungs in the long term. From what I understand perlite does not breakdown very easily and when you get that dust in your lungs it stays there and cause damage over time so I'd think about that before using it as a medium your going to inhale directly from.
