Starts in a few days. I'm plenty jazzed about it.
I don't know about anyone else, but I like the European Cup better than the World Cup. The sides are a lot more evenly matched and unlike the world cup, undogs win this tournament all the time.
Group C looks amazing with Italy, Netherlands, France, and Romania. Holy shit! By far, the deathiest group of death ever.

deathiest group of death is quite an apt title I think.

It's going to be an epic battle, and I'm picking Romania to come through with the Dutch - just because thats who i want to see go through. Italy can suck a dick for all I care, and while I do like the French, it's all about the underdog, so go Romania!!

It should be a top tournament :)

CB :)

Yeah I also like the Euro more than the WC for the same reasons, the sides are more evenly matched, great teams won't lose their spot so Costa Rica, Iran or Trinidad and Tobago can play, etc.

I cheer for Sweden always have always will, in Euros and World cups, I think maybe they should start another tournament with 12 European teams Brazil, Argentina and invite depending on how well they are playing one team from Asia or the Concacaf, decided by playoffs and a team from Africa or Australia, also decided by playoffs.

Well Sverige is at group D with current champions Greece, Russia and Spain.
I have faith in our players, especially the younger ones, but I hate our coach Lars Lagerbäck, also it's time to put some new legs, Ljunberg is injured but he's gonna make him play anyway, like on the last match we lost 1 nil against Ukraine, where Johan Elmander (one of my fav players with Rosemberg, Källström and Zlatan) got injured.....and Andreas Isaaksson is a great Goalkeeper, why on all the last matches Lagerbäck lets Raami Shaaban play half of the match when he showed he sucks badly!! He shouldn't be on the squad, oh and Larsson's comeback, yeah he was and still is a great player, but maybe he'd be good as a substitute instead off starting with Linderoth,Ljunberg and Henrik Larsson he could start with Markus Rosemberg, Sebastian Larsson and Johan Elmander, and please get Shaaban off the team.

Well if it's a win win scenario, I already have my S.F.F. t-shirts ready for my dad my girl my sister and me and we'll watch all the stage matches from the official swedish ex-pats pub, anyway I predict Russia not making it, and greece drawing all the matches, Aragones is also a lousy manager IMO, so even though Spain is the strongest team we'll face I think we have a good chance, we played against spain on the Euro playoffs and won away and lost at home, well, Sweden debuts on June 10. Till then, hope we kick some major ass this year (last Euro we went away undeservingly after losing to Netherlands by Penalty Kicks on the Quarter Finals), and I say win win, cause if we win I'll be happy and party and if we don't go thru Lagerbäck will have to go away...

Can't wait for Euro 2008 to begin, already bought 2 ounces of homegrown sinsemilla that's called ^Euro 2008^ by it's grower. Let the games begin, I really don't care for other sports than football (that's soccer for all ya yanks).

Anyway my predictions on who'll go thru

Group A: Portugal and Turkey
Group B: Germany and Croatia
Group C: Netherlands and France
Group D: Sweden and Greece

Most European teams don't miss out on the world cup because of other nations... out of the 32 spots available at the world cup, 13 go to Europe. So only 3 less teams than those who qualify for Euro... 1 less this time, as there are co-hosts...

The world cup is just that, a WORLD cup, not a Euro + a few good other teams cup...

So that aside, I'm still looking forward to a great tournie. I think and hope that Spain will go through instead of Greece... they really need to get their shit together on the big stage and not choke though...

My support is going to either Portugal, who shouldn't have too much trouble in their group, or Croatia. Wish Northern Ireland didn't get robbed :P

We did put up a great fight though!

Oh yeah you did Don Luigi, you gave us a good lesson, I wish Sweden and Northern Ireland had classified, not that I have anything against spain, I just hate Aragones and the way he sees football, and how all their major squads rely on overpriced brazilian and argentine players and some other overpriced euro megastars, who don't even perform that well there (I'm thinking of Henry in Barca for example), yeah there's the surprise good local players like david silva, david villa and ^the kid^ torres, but most of spain's game is old and there are many players who are on the national theme only cause they play in a certain theme.

Whatever I'm rambling, my support goes to Sweden, but I see Portugal vs. Germany as a possible final match

I've put a triple header bet on.

France to beat Romania
Germany to beat Poland
And
Croatia to beat Austria

£10 bet, set to win £54

All the matches so far have been what I would have predicted. I hope Romania beat France though, got no BBC1 in here so can't check the score atm.

I'm a France fan. I have a sinking feeling that this might turn into 2002 all over again.
However, Romania are no slouches and looked like they were playing for a draw. It's pretty tough to beat that isn't playing to win. Games versus Italy and Holland should be more open. I hope.

Wow, Holland v Italy was scintillating stuff! The 2nd Dutch goal in particular was spectacular - probably the goal of the tournament already.

If they continue playing like that then they're a real prospect I think, although it's doubtful they'll be able to keep that kind of level up for the entire tournament. Gives Van Basten some selection conundrums too.

all my tips so far have been correct :)

Haven't actually seen any action yet... none of it is really on at a useful time for me over here in Oz...

the dutch got lucky at the wankdorf stadium, with the ruud van nistelrooys goal, then double lucky to clear off the line 5 minutes later and score off the counter attack :!

anyway, i'm still going for deutschland uber allez

I'll be happy as long as neither Germany, France or Italy win. Fought too many wars with them and that's what the European cup is all about after all, remembering all the wars we've won.

Only joking of course, I just tend to go for the underdog, except for Portugal because I really like how they play as opposed to that brutish, messy display of football that Italy pulled out of it's arse. Here's hoping Northern Ireland qualify for the world cup and England fail to qualify :D

The first goal was a travesty I agree, but the other 2 were simply brilliant goals. Nothing lucky about their victory at all - it was fully deserved & they comprehensively outplayed the Italians.

Biting my nails about Spain's entry into the tournament tonight. Perennial underachievers they are, but maybe, just maybe this could be their year. Being half-Spanish half-English is a nightmare for me in terms of being a football fan! :|

Spain have a chance if they beat the Runners up in Group C
