Benzos Etizolam or Clonazepam?

I am about to add a benzo into my med rotation and due to availability and price I have narrowed my choices down to etizolam and clonazepam. I have pretty much zero experience with benzos and therefore no tolerance. I am taking them so I can take a night or two off a week from lyrica or pain meds. I know they won't really help with the pain but I hope they will at least help me ignore it easier and get some better rest at night as a bonus. For those of you that have experience with both, please let me know which you think will help with my situation the most. I realize different folks are affected in different ways, but any input will help me choose at least which one to try first. I could care a less about recreational value if that helps. Thank you!

Are you adding them for sleep? Or is it the rebound anxiety that worries you the most? If I was in pain and had to go to sleep I'd go with etizolam which is more of a sedative/ hypnotic. If I needed the meds to get trough the day (at work) I'd go with clonazepam.
However switching from lyrica to benzos just because you feel like it seems like a bad move. Imo.

I am mostly taking them to help with not focusing on the pain and getting worked up about it if that makes sense. If it helps me relax it will help me sleep which is another goal. I will only be taking one dose at night as that is when the pain bothers me more on a mental and physical level. After months of taking lyrica around the clock daily it has stopped helping as much and I have found it works better if I don't take it every day. Also it would be great if I could stretch my script out as long as possible as it is very expensive.

I'd go with the thienodiazepine , the only possible hitch is that the short duration will cause a sleep disturbing re-bound. Only Wayne to find out is to give it a shot.

Thanks for the input I will prob give it a try first and see how it goes. One other question for anyone that knows, as far as the clonazepam it would cost twice as much to get the roche brand as opposed to a generic. Is this worth it or just silly nonsense?

I've found with etiz, when I take it for sleep, I wake up at like 3/4am and can't get back to sleep.

Eh that is troubling, I was hoping for good relaxation and rest. What if I got some of both and took like a half dose of each together?

definitely etizolam, clonazepam is not hypnotic, takes forever to kick in and lasts too long in the body.

don't even bother with clonazepam for sleep, if you do wake up at 3/4am, take .5mg and go back to sleep. It kicks in really fast sublingually, within minutes. If you only do this 1-2x/week max then you'll be fine, don't rely on them though and careful if you try to mix lyrica with it, you will get fucked up.

klonopin does have quite a long half life, go etizolam

I would advise against adding a benzo if you do not need to. You are already taking pain meds, just get them increased to help with the pain. Its easy to start taking a benzo two times a week and then all of a sudden every day or you can't sleep. Then you got another monkey on your back that can be very dangerous and lengthy to withdraw from.

If you don't really need them/enjoy them avoid them entirely. Otherwise I guess etizolam, it's one of the easier ones to withdraw from according to most people.

Ah yes, the old brand v. generic debate. If you want silly nonsense, do a search and read the opinions. The only generally agreed upon thing is that the debate will never be resolved.

My suggestion: try both and decide for yourself. A 30 day script doesn't have to be filled with 30 days' worth of the same manufacturer's stuff. You can do 15 / 15, 10 / 20, hell even 1 / 1 if you want to get a 2 day supply up front and choose the other 28 later. Of course, if you have no prior experience with benzos, you'll need a few doses (maybe .5 brand / .5 generic to avoid bias) before you're ready to gauge a difference.

etizolam is better all around. If you take clonezepam at night you will find yourslef groggy in the morning and still feeling some after effects.
