The Enthnogenic Landscape is coming to the forefront of consciousness more than ever before as we reassess our place in the universal mantra, part of this communication revolves around association with particular psychoactive plants. Entheogenesis Australis hopes to create a space in which we can freely discuss the benefits of psychedelic plants, chemicals and culture and debate many of those questions we all seem to be asking

EGA is a four day open air gathering of intergalactic proportions - based around a conference and workshop format with plenty of ad ons to keep the mind in top gear.

See last years web page to get some idea of what you may be in for www.entheo.net

It is with excitement that we can officially announce that Denis McKenna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_McKenna) will be headlining Entheogenesis Australis 2007.

We have also started updating our web page with information regarding this year’s event. You can find a preliminary list of speakers here: http://www.entheo.net/2007speakers.htm . As you can see we are certainly already in for a treat. As well as a great line up of speakers, we also have a new site this year, so keep checking the website regularly – we will be releasing further details soon!

Id love to attend this, but purely to learn. I dont know shit about most of this stuff.

Would I be out of the ordinary to turn up, without much prior knowledge on these subjects?

This sounds prettyu cool. I would like to check it out but I doubt I could make it down to Melbourne. How much people goto this event approx?

I'd like to hear McKenna's brother speak as their Invisible Landscape book is quite an interesting but also demented read :) They both have some real brains and creativity.

It is a conference space of approximately 200 dedicated plant heads from all over Australia.

This is most likely the only time that Dennis will be in the country so something worth thinking about travailing for.

%)

The only information so far is it will be held approximately 2 - 2.5 hours from Melbourne CBD.

So is this in melbourne? Just scoured the website and couldn't find anything about venue etc.

I am a horticulturalist, with intention to further study, and possibly this being an avenue I may pursue.

Maybe it is 2.5 hours underground%)

One thing i can say for sure, is if you are looking to come, best join the mailing list, for a limited time, they are running a cheaper ticket price to it members.
=D

I Know many of you are very eager to get more details on the site. Well I can say that we have a conformed venue just outside of Mansfield in Victoria. That is set deep in the mountants and has a small lake feed by a spring. The site is stunningly and perfect for this type of gathering. We can swim and kayak in the summer days and walk in the pristine bushland, as well as soak up the amazing lectures and get involved in the workshops. God this is sounding so good - I won’t to be there now.

Discussions Panels

Psychedelic Activism and Dissent:
It's origins and its FutureAll politics is an extension of consciousness, and psychedelic activism has a rich history of raging against the machine. From the anti-war movements of the 60s attempting to levitate the Pentagon, to drug busts in the bush and media scares in the 00s, the politics of consciousness should be at the heart of modern activism. So why isn't it?

Ethnobotanics – lets get physical:
A General Q and A on entheogenic plant identification, propagation, extraction and proliferation. Ask the expert penal the questions that have been bugging you about anything to do with entheogenic plant.

Ayahuasca: A Holy Grail for our species?
In the 60s LSD opened the mind; in the 80s ecstasy opened the heart: now in the 00s, is ayahuasca revealing the spirit for a new generation of seekers? With ayahuasca use exploding in the West, does this jungle sacrament offer a chance for a genuine archaic revival? And is the sacred vine being commodified by Western use as it spreads across the planet?

The rise of the Ultra-culture:Doof, Entheo & Tribal communities in the 00's:
Forget the counterculture: the Ultraculture is the hybrid offspring of all that has gone before: Part hippie, part activist, part spiritual warrior. As this new global tribe coalesces, what have we learned from past communities' experience? How do we weave myth, magick, science and technology to be a successful tribe in the present?

Doof Culture - Pounding open the third eye
The role of the trance dance has never been more vital to connect us to the earth, but where is it going? Mass commercialisation in the mainstream is balanced by an eco-activist bush doof movement in the underground. Doof isn't dead. but what is it becoming?

Every EGA i've been to has been a life-changing experience, and regardless of if I lived in Perth or Mansfield, was $5K in debt or flush with cash, I would find a way of getting there each year- yes it is THAT special :)

Being able to absorb knowledge from the most talented of minds and teachers, in the most down to earth, 'everyone is a student' way is such a delight, and fits so perfectly given EGA's ethos.
