The phrase has been deliberately introduced (much like political correctness itself), along with all its attendant bullshit inverted/perverted psychology like the whole trans thing for example, to salt the ground of discourse and debate so none shall be had.
Whereas the left previously was actually making an effort to demonstrate against the ruling class system, e.g. at the turn of the millennium (Occupy Wall St for example), now they have allowed their ranks to become filled with confused individuals spreading deliberate propaganda so that the 'right' will attack them (and not the system). The same thing happened in the 60's. A growing group of people fed up with the system, poses a threat to the system, system hijacks and co-opts the movement into disorder and confusion.. in that context it was supplying psychedelics. Or you can take the more well known example that Chapelle would know, introducing crack etc into black communities to break down opposition there.
Not only that, but the left is filled with people who are now actively working for the beast and helping strengthen it, in particular the silicon valley crowd who are unwittingly contributing to creating the digital gulag. Their champion, Musk (and Gates historically), are just front men for the military industrial complex. I'm seeing more people (finally) beginning to wake up to this in all the comments on videos etc, people do finally see the hypocrisy of Musk and the contradictory nature of 'free speech' and 'I want to neurolace your brain'.
It's sad though because the righties do have a point, the left has debased itself unwittingly, like the hippies did, and the left instinctively reacts against that instead of seeing the enemy common to both 'sides'. All the while the ruling class laughs at both sides. If people paid a little more attention..
