I don't understand why the right is so excited about this. Because twitter banned Trump?

Do you really think Elon Musk has completely impartial freedom of speech in mind? The richest man in the world has no agenda???

The richest man in the world now owns one of the biggest social media platforms... sounds like the plot to a book. Kinda scary, if you ask me.

I haven't been following this.. I'm going to suss that Musk out. He might be ok.

Trump getting banned on Twitter 😆 After Stephen King got banned for being mean to him. The planet is ruled by man babies and machines.

Why should I trust this billionaire less than the others? :memecat:
Because billionaires have all the buying power in Washington and now control more media than before. IMHO this makes our news sources even more monopolized by the wealthy elite. Remember, it's not left vs right but the rich vs everyone else.

Bezos owns Washington Post, Zuck has facebook, Bloomberg has well Bloomberg, and now Elon has Twitter.

I think he is just trying to make a platform for his own agenda where he and other rich folks will be free from accountability.

Besides, Musk is notorious for suppressing free speech at Tesla by union busting and then there's the racial discrimination lawsuits.

I'm with you man. I'm all for campaign finance reform, taxing the rich, etc. I was just saying. Why should I get up in arms over Twitter being owned by Musk when it was already owned by ultra rich people in the first place? MSDNC is telling me to shit my pants over this, but I'm not gonna. Idgaf if he lets Trump come back. Let 'em all come back. If their ideas suck so bad it shouldn't be that hard to present better arguments.

As for the racism allegations in Tesla. Probably true. Who knows. But the only reason the left cares is because they want to bring Musk down. It's just shit slinging.

For the record, I don't watch MSNBC or any cable news but ironically did get most of my Musk bashing info from Twitter :ROFLMAO:

I guess we can see how the lawsuits play out because I do think the allegations, if true, are a good representation of how Musk really feels about free speech and what kind of hate speech we should now be prepared to see on Twitter. Like I said before, what he calls "free speech" many call "free from accountability" for him and his friends.

Oh yeah, and more shit slinging:

I simply don't give a fuck. Real innovation requires fucking everybody else over thats the point of capalitism.

Of course working for any billionaire company is probably shit. But don't fucking complain they created your job quit if you don't like it. As for the racism probably a load of shit. The left wing likes to label everything racism. If you can do the job you can do the job your not gonna get employed just cause of the color of your skin if you can't do the job.

I read the article. It's a hit piece on Musk, clearly. I'm not doubting that some people at her work said slurs at some point. But her complaining about it being too cold? Really LA Times, you're going to include that? If you're gonna call getting paid $20 an hour modern day slavery, do a little better than it was too cold.

Also being forced to work three months with no days off? That seems a bit far fetched.

But it's a threat to our Democracy. More free speech in digital town squares is actually bad for Democracy

If Twitter were an actual town square we'd all be dead from cholera due to living so close to an open cesspool

It's still gonna attract a bunch of self-aggrandizing lunatics with short messages and shorter attention spans. Some rich asshole owns it now, as opposed to some other rich asshole who owned it before, big deal right...lets see you put that big fat genius brain of yours against the vexing dilemma of, "how do we 'class up' social media and have it come anywhere near approaching respectability?" (i.e. live up to this notion of it as the "new town square")

You do that and whew, that would be an undeniably incredible masterclass in tech bro brilliance...I would take back everything I've ever insinuated in my trite commentary from the sidelines, all the stuff about you being a shameless troll/grifter with a very puzzling discrepancy between your vast wealth and your actual accomplishments, but hey...you run a social media company in a way that doesn't either end in a massive corporate surveillance system designed to squeeze every last marketable cent out of their user base, or a situation in which the inmates take over the asylum, or simply an echo chamber of one side or the other in the current political "culture war"...well, that would be an achievement on par with achieving the singularity or discovering the god particle, but it would definitely make me renounce all hitherto existing Elon-bashing from yours truly

Rofl... what?

Do they think there are no security measures for this normally every day?

source codes by billion dollar companies have always been highly protected

it's not like some disgruntled employee could alter the source code and push it live without anyone else noticing...
Lol, yeah idk, I bet you're right.

What I'm shocked by is the blatant fascism displayed by a person buying something with their own money. We should ban that to be anti-fascist.

Every time I see something from Twitter, I am reminded more and more why I don't use it.
yeah, twitter is a shit show

I prefer reddit, because at least things can be downvoted and moderated... then again a lot of mods on reddit are dumbasses who abuse their power to fit their own agenda.

all social media is fucked tbh
