Hey guys!

I recently decided to give Effexor (Venlafaxine, a SNRI) a try again for anxiety. I took it at about 11:30pm last night, and it's 5:40am now. I'm feeling very anxious from it and paranoid, so obviously I'm not going to keep taking it.

Has anyone had any similar effects? Do you know how long this horrible feeling may last? I took 37.5mg.

Doctor told me to take effexor in the morning because it can apparently cause insomnia in the beginning (if you take it at night). I would say it's more likely you psyched yourself up because you took the pill and expected "something" to happen... lots of people feel that way. When I first started taking effexor it was like they gave me a bit of ecstasy, dilated pupils, all mellow and wanting to love & hug everyone. They were feeding me valium during the day and knocked me out with stillnox at night, so I honestly didn't feel any anxiety, I was all fuzzy and gooey. The ecstasy-like effects subsided after about a week.

Hey,

Vanlafaxine has a fairly short half life, so I'd reckon that the feeling may last a few days to a week at worst. That being said, if you've just started taking it, it might simply be a temporary side effect that will pass with time as your body gets adjusted to the drug. If I were you I'd give it at least a week before deciding to stop - but, obviously, it's your choice :)

Thanks you guys!

I think like kitcat said its more psychological for me. I *think* something bad will happen and that it will cause anxiety and then it does. I have a huge issue with that when it comes to medication. I fear it'll make my anxiety worse. So I'm going to try taking it in the daytime and see if I have different effects. Thanks for your replies :)
