Ecstasy users unlikely to have worse health finds study

MDMA use for me has saved me from severe depression. I have never had it since that one magic day when I first took MDMA - I've never abused this drug unlike Alcohol, which I find a lot more addictive and damaging

This study is highly skewed given that near 100% of those surveyed wouldnt of had MDMA in the past year.

However, I still back the results.

Its not disputed that MDMA abuse can and will affect your mental health, but only in the short term.

I had some minor anxietys prior to finding MDMA, but pretty much a single dose rendered that a thing of the past.

If were comparing the health of MDMA users to that of drinkers who are more than happy to destroy their body's and minds with copious seemingly never ending amounts of toxic ethanol. Then sure, people who take ectasy instead of drinking are definately going to have better health.

Even if we buy into the whole "drugs are evil" propoganda pushed at us through advertising and the like we should still be asking ourselves which is the less of two evils?

Pretty fuckin' easy choice if you ask me.

I'm not getting into whether MDMA is more or less harmful than this or that - I think my thoughts on this have been well stated over the years.

My concern lies with the report, how the study was done, and how the results were derived. Without looking at the methods used to collect the data, at this stage I tend to agree with L3inard's first statement. We're talking about a time when:

  • MDMA is considered rare
  • there's no existing system for properly identifying street drugs
  • there is a high number of users who've never likely consumed MDMA (but possibly think they have)

So, imo this report needs to be thoroughly scrutinized.

I want to see the full report, methods of recruitment, how depression and anxiety are accurately assessed over the phone [?], stat probabilities, and how these were arrived at. I would certainly hope this hasn't simply been derived from standard EDRS interviews :\

Some people in that age group started when they were too young however, and probably thankful they did due to the drought now.

Yeah, I wouldn't have experienced proper decently dosed MDMA tabs (ecstasy) if I didn't start dropping in 2005 (16 years old). Plenty of 'good' pills were in constant circulation until literally ~12 months ago for me. Haven't touched a pill since then. Born in '89.

Haha PUCKBOY, you're younger then I am, and all this time I thought you were an old timer haha ;)

Unfortunately for me I didn't get into MDMA until end of 08, really not that long in retrospect, was just lucky enought to scrape the goods, and lucky enough to still know the right people. But like I always say, be a good customer and sooner or later you'll get a good dealer.

Good point.
I think education and being a good CUSTOMER Should go hand in hand though, but definately better words.
