Drugs that get better/worse with every use

This is just something interesting that I thought of. I have personally noticed that some drugs get better with every use (in terms of the experience) while others get worse. By this I mean that after continued use, some drugs become whatever you want them to be and the side effects become less and less while for others the opposite is true.
For instance, alcohol is usually a terrible experience for up to months before people stop getting sick so often and learn to derive pleasure from it. Although my experience is limited with them, opiates seem to get better and better (barring tolerance) because the nausea and itching affects you less and less and the high is definitely whatever you want it to be. And benzos seem like innocent drunkeness to most at first but my most recent experiences with them have been the most pleasant.
On the other hand, X seems to get worse and worse with continued use because it loses its magical feeling and can leave you depressed for up to a week after use (instead of a day). Coke and other stimulants get worse and worse I think because addiction is just too common and the crashes get worse. For a lot of people, acid and other tryptamines are eventually outgrown because of a frightening experience or that it doesn't offer them anything new. Most people would agree that tobacco gets worse over time because it doesn't give you any sort of buzz but just prevents withdrawl symptoms in the regular user.
Pot stands kind of in the middle because for some it keeps them in an up mood. For others, they become tolerant to the pleasant effects of it or never derive pleasure from it in the first place.
I was just curious as to what drugs others think get better or worse with each use. Peace.

Excellent post.
I have to say you pretty much read my mind.
After reaching it's peak, ecstacy took a strong head-first dive. I got burnt out, and stopped completely. It got to the point I didn't get euphoric at all...at times I would even get iritable...and tired. It was the complete opposite of what it started out as...I stopped and haven't started back up for almost a year, and I don't know if I will ever do it again.
I can't really comment about weed, as I never enjoyed it from the beginning. It didn't get progressivley worse or better, it just stayed horrible.
I'd have to say Meth is pretty much the middleground. It's always very consistent. I know what to expect, I know when/where to use it. It's always the same. Granted I don't use it much for recreation now (It's basically a tool...that feels good

), but I can't say that I ever found myself DISLIKING it...except on the comedown of course. :P
In all honesty I'd have to say that opiates are the only drugs that have gotten better with time. I'm at the point now that I rarely, if ever itch, and I never get nauseas.

SpeedLimit55, how often did you use X?
I think if you used it sparingly, than maybe you wouldn't have had such a bad expereience with it -

I've got to add my vote for opiates.
By the way, i saw "Requiem for a Dream" tonight. All I can say is wow. Excellent film, with amazing cinematography.
Only thing i was wondering is... Opiates, heroin included, don't dialate pupils do they? I was pretty sure they didn't but they showed it like they did in the movie. I figured just 'cuz it was a common conception to the public that dialated pupils mean high people.

-Fuck PLUR, get high-

hehe I saw that yesterday too, and I noticed that eye thing. They should have constricted not dialated.

Yea..that Requiem thing really annoyed me too...at first i thought they were doing meth...
For me, E affects me very unusually.
Everytime i use it--which is very infrequently--i get higher than the last time. Sometimes i feel like im getting ready to float off elsewhere, it's insane.
im a total lightweight when it comes to E. I dunno about other drugs, however.

I think marijuana is one that gets better with time.
When I started smokin I didn't feel shit. Now after a long time I derive great pleasure from it and the paranoia/sillyness is all but gone.
Coke I know it can be ok at first then you understand the high and its great but after a while its all down hill.
E...great-->good-->nothing--->shit
shroomz if you abuse it will turn to shit also. but it is kinda of constant.

after years of opiate use and then stopping....then taking some out of need; vicodin now sucks, every time i take it i get a killer headache, nothing more.

imho cannabis gets worse. you have to smoke shitloads and still doesn't get that nice buzz you got in the start.
on the other hand we have heroin, that i havn't smoked that much, that have gotten better and better every time.
i think longterm use of any substances always draw down the effects. after a while your dose is way up, and you are still trying to get the perfect "high"

When I made this post, I was really barring tolerance from consideration. I was talking about each experience with a drug, hopefully not used too frequently. I have maybe rolled 10 times (15-20 pills total) in a period of about 6 months and haven't done it in about 6 months now because the last time had a body high to it but very little empathy. I didn't even want to be around the other people that took the pills. Btw, they loved the pills. And the tolerance to X is different from other drugs (and that is why I consider it when I said it gets worse and worse) because I have went over a month without using for the last time and the experience was weak. My friend can vouch for the worse and worse experiences too. He has done it probably 50 times in a year or two, and everytime he does it now, even after a long week, he is depressed for a whole week afterward.
That is really another aspect to consider too. The after effects of each use. Opiates usually make me go to sleep afterward and wake up feeling like I have had the best nights sleep ever. Coke and speed give me the jitters after the buzz wears off and you can get strung out without sleep for long periods of time. Unfortunately, even though I like weed, I hate it when the high wears off because you still can't think clearly enough to do homework or anything else requiring concentration. I don't like the after period of acid either where you are tired but can't sleep because your mind is still going in 20 different directions. Short acting benzos like xanax leave you feeling decent afterwards but valium tends to leave you hung over. Alcohol is notoriously bad afterwards because you can get really hungover if you overdo it and at the very least you wake up dehydrated and out of it.

Ecstacy was the very first drug I tried...And since I knew nothing about what it was, or what it did to me, you are correct, I flew headfirst a world of burnout.
I started using every weekend...this went on for about a month. Then I realized that it was Ecstacy that was making me so depressed, and I cut it down to once every two months. This went on for about 6 months. Cutting down didn't help. It's been in the ballpark of a year since I rolled last...that last roll was FAR from desireable...and to be honest, I really have no desire to try it again anytime soon. Neurotoxicity and comedown effects aside, it's just not a very pracitcal drug for me.
I'm sure I'll try it again but not anytime soon.
Split Oak:
narcotics (at 1st!! - but not healthy to continue!!
Why is continued use not healthy?

I think the drugs that have gotten better for me after alot of use are Pot, Acid and Shrooms. The pot has always been the greates , never had a problem with it, but the acid and the shrooms did get better, after alot of use I can control my trips more even if they're really strong, I get places that I couldn't get near without these..
For worse, the only thing that I could say that became worse is Ecstacy, after a while of doing it very often I simply got tired of it.
PEace.

xtc....get worse...xcept if i want to dance or be with someone special
lsd...gets better as long as you plan for the use...go for a hike, xperience something creative, dance...etc
mushrooms...same as acid
dxm... same as above
if you use any psychadelics (sp) jus to get u high it will turn into a fuckup
try to turn ur trips into an exploration or journey to highten experiences!!!

I find this to work best:
nothing loses it's edge if done correctly
about 4 weekends (fri, sat combo) for 1 month. I drink once a weekend, fri or sat and get completely smashed, alcohol only. The other night i choose 1 out of 4 different drugs (E, K, meth, shrooms, or whatever else)....
for following weekend i drink one night (fri, or sat) and do one of the remaining 3 drugs. i continue this until the month is over...
this way the drugs don't get old, and drinking is hella lot cheaper than drugs.

THERE ARE NONE!!!! C'mon, think about hard with a clear,non-buzzed head....I guess you could say it depends *not* on every use,but how frequently/non-frequently you do it.Also a LOT of "things" kinda pre-determine how you feel before and after you use that drug."things"(man, there's almost a endless number of "things") being the *most important* factors in determining how the drug will affect you.How it affects you,in turn, will determine how you feel about it later on by remembering the experience, and how euphoric or horrible it made you feel.
Some lucky people have nothing but truly horrid experiences on some drug the first time they use *a particular drug* and stay the fuck away from *that particular drug*
.Hopefully for them,"that drug"is one of the more potienally dangerous, addictive and expensive ones.
But some of us,experience a truly euphoric and pleasent feeling with some drug.Sometimes we try a drug that just truly makes us feel complete by filling in any doubt, regret, shame, insecurity,or any negative feelings we have.I doubt any human thats ever experienced that feeling will not yearn for it again and hunt either the drug or something that will make them feel that way again.
Some of them do find something, other than drugs, that fills in the blanks enough that they become dependent on doing that to get their fix.The rest of us end up chasing that feeling we remember so vividly, and the longer you chase it the harder it is to catch. The harder it becomes to catch, the more intent we are on catching it.The stronger our intent grows, the more extremes we are willing to go through to get it.
I'm not saying don't do drugs.Hell,i would'nt be here if I did'nt do drugs.I love drugs, but I don't trust them, and I don't trust myself with them. IMO no one should ever get complacent(sp.)with *any*drug that they feel they could and would like to use the rest of their life without any negative times ahead.Because, anything you do enough has some sort of negative outcome eventually.

X seemed to be going downhill, so I started spacing it out a lot more and now it seems to be as bout as good each time I take it (once every couple of months, tho it's actually been like 5 since my last roll) it's still pretty good. I used to do acid a *lot* and it really started to suck, i was so permifried and depressed and paranoid, the permifry didn't go away for almost a year. i stopped using it for almost a year and a half, i've started again but once again I pace myself a lot more so each experience is a good one
mushrooms, well, i like to take mushrooms a lot because they're so much more layed back than acid. I'll trip once every week or two when shrooms are around, it never seems to get old (but I still don't do it too much). bud's the same as ever, although it doesn't effect me the same as when I was knew to pot, that's only because the novelty of being stoned has worn off but it's still quite pleasant, i smoke quite a bit of weed just about every day
smile.gif

i've only done K once, didn't like it, and as for heroin, meth, coke, and rx's (cept for vicodin and codiene, i like those
smile.gif
) I just don't mess with those at all so I wouldn't really know about them
