why?
what pressure could maps exert on them to force them to change their mind?
the threat of legal action, perhaps? well, if so, the cdpc can't have had much faith that their earlier statement was, in fact, true...

MAPS withdrew from CDPC over this, not sure the details, but it does seem pressure related.
The coalition represents more than 50 organizations across the country, including MAPS Canada until very recently.
MAPS Canada executive director Scott Bernstein said in an email that his organization no longer belongs to the coalition, "because they failed to consult with us before issuing this statement."
Its hard to tell what the CDPC thinks it true here as they took nearly three months to issue a retraction that is short, vague and really explains nothing.
At first glance it certainly does give the impression you suggest, that Meaghan or those around her have been unreliable with the truth - which has me thinking it is time to ask for some of the transparency the CDPC were patting themselves on the back over earlier on this topic.
