Not on a train, sadly.
Ok, as bursqe as the title may sound, bear with me!

In the past 2 years I have had about 7 or 8 hypoglycemic "attacks". They are all consistent in symptoms:
- shaking extremities
- headache and lightheadedness
- unstoppable urge to urinate
- "electric" feeling in the kidneys and bladder
- Extreme panic
- Auditory halucinations

All the above can be cured by chewing on 2-3 sugar cubes.

I've been trying to eliminate all inconsistencies and I am finding that the criteria seems to be:
- Have taken opiates (even in medicinal doses) for at lest 5 days
- Have taken antihistamines (medically) for at least 5 days
- Drank alcohol within 24 hours
- Have taken Ketamine minues before the "attack"

BUT

- Ketamine and Alcohol have been taken before within a 24-hour period with no problem
- Same with opiates and alcohol
- same with opiates and antihistamines
- Same with K and opiates (But NOT habitually)

I'm sorry if this is confusing, I am actually thinking out loud.

Please tell me what you think thus far, and maybe I'll give more input.

I recall reading that taking opiates habitually could induce hypoglycemia.

I had hypoglycemia several times after heavy drinking all night, every time I felt better after drinking a glas of water with lots of sugar in it.

I although would like to read theories 'bout it.

i have no idea if this will help, but are you getting enough calcium? taking lots of amines, and alcohol, can really mess with your metal levels. I always take a 500mg supplement of calcium right as im going to do K, it helps with the comedown and makes my bones not hurt later.

eating more complex carbs couldnt hurt though

Im type 1 diabetic. Every time I take mescaline, which has been around 10 times, my bloodsugar drops without fail around the 2-3 hour mark. It can be very unnerving as the mescaline kicks in

I dont know about the OD's but alcohol is bad very bad for us hypoglycemics, I drank a pint of beer a few weeks ago after not eating for several hours(another bad idea) 20 minutes after drinking it I checked my glucose and it was at 43. I was rambling and laughing felt just fine, but I was running on insulin and my adrenochrome was probably on its way up 8o. so you may feel fine after a couple of beers, but thats the insulin talking.

Eating a couple of sugar cubes will stop the symptoms, BUT you will spike and then crash harder then before, bad bad BAD.

^ Wow, I must say I'm shocked at the consistency of the replies.

It is very likely that many of my problems were then diabetic, not nervous as I had thought before. It is not out of question, since my mothr is hypoglycemic. I admit I do not know much about diabetes...

PiP, what do you suggest a better alternative? The Merck manual suggests dextrose, I know this is a sugar, is it possible to get it pure from a pharmacy without prescription?

In any case, I think I'll get this medically checked... unfortunately I'm in a foreign country now and I don't know if such checks are covered under my travel insurance...

EDIT: F&B mentioned he had a seizure on K + Amitryptylin I believe. Is it possible that this seizure was due to hypoglycemia rather than a direct interaction?

yeah, dextrose is pretty avalable. I used to get it in bulk for homebrewing. I'm sure you can get it that way.

avoid simple sugars and carbs, enriched white or wheat bread, white bread all together.

chromiun picolinate helps me tremendously by sustaining blood sugar levels, as a hypoglycemic you burn through Zinc and B vitamins fast, besides a multivitamin I take, or rather eat bee pollen which is FULL vitamins and amino acids.
