I´m on Concerta and it motivates me to do the things I´m supposed to do ONE AT A TIME. It works great for me. I do hate it when I come down since it only works about 10 to 11 hours for me.

I always had adhd but was never evaluated even though I ran into all sorts of trouble at school. Opiates and GHB would make me feel good but not focused so that's an entirely different thing. I could also argue that the people you talk about who took heroin to alleviate adhd and are now helped by a DRI or DRA are in fact depressed and misdiagnosed. You also say it is a manifestation of depression, so you agree it is a mental disorder, so I really don't see the problem. If the medication helps it helps. Are you against all medication for mental issues?

The only problem I see with adhd is that certain parties have an economic incentive to push it on people that don't have it. Because of this far too many are diagnosed with this disorder in the us and many other places. This, in effect causes yet other people to conclude it does not exist at all. And That, causes yet other people (like me) to never get diagnosed until running into addiction or some other bullshit. It's just a shame that I could've done a lot more with my life up until now if I was diagnosed before. I still have time to make up for it, but it's just a loss of opportunity.

I've only had DRAs in recreational dosages so I wouldn't know how they work on me. Amphetamines are not approved for adhd here but do get prescribed off-label (only dexamphetamine).

My non-academically backed personal experience is that shots of dextromethamphetamine HCl crystal make me feel instantly 'stupid' (DRA) and shots of methylbenzoylecgonine muriate (aka cocaine HCl) make me feel sharper and more intelligent instantly (DRI). However how this relates to pharmaceutical AD(H)D treatment may be utterly negligible

I can tell you from personal experience that I love dexedrine and adderall and to a lesser extent ritalin, but I find that after a while they always make me depressed. I know it sounds crazy to less informed people who are familiar with drugs but these days I prefer bupropion because I feel more balanced on it. However I too had a seizure while on it and can't take it anymore, even though they believe the seizure was from xanax wd they don't want to take any chances and put me back on wellbutrin. My psych keeps trying drugs like effexor but I tell her that they don't work, I need that dopamine stimulation to feel like I'm functioning my best. She wants to try every other route first, but I just want to tell her, look, I know how my brain works better than you do and these ssris and mood stabilisers do not help my depression one bit. Opiates work but they come with their own set of problems.
