Drinking and Dieting

Alcohol is my achilles heel when it comes to dieting too.

I just find it so enjoyable to relax most nights with a glass of wine, and then comes snacking, or being too lazy to cook the planned healthy meal and just eat a frozen meal or something. And of course, feeling shocking the next day does nothing for your motivation to exercise.

I have tried all the 'tricks' - like stopping at one glass, or filling half the glass with mineral water, or drinking a glass of water between each drink, but it's hopeless. It's either all or nothing for me. I've succeeded well on weight loss plans where I've managed to keep drinking solely to one night on a weekend, but that was back before I met my current boyfriend and got into the drinking lifestyle we currently engage in. Oh, it seemed so easy back then! :(

Last year my efforts over several months resulted in a total loss of about 3.5kg.... I basically kept drinking on weekends, but tried to compensate during the week, which meant it was slllllllllllllooooow up-and-down weight loss, but it still worked. I noticed the nights I caved and drank Thursdays I would lose nothing or put on weight.

It sucks, but unfortunately I can't lose weight without stopping drinking, and I won't stop drinking. So me and this issue are at a standstill =D , and I am just accepting the weight I am because it allows me to enjoy what I enjoy (at this point in my life anyway)

intresting, I go to the gym a bit but I have a bit of a beer belly, although I do drink wine alot. Has wine got less calories than beer and cider or is there little difference?

Im like you Strawberry_lovemuffin

Its all or nothing for me too. At the moment it nothing because I am trying to keepmy mind, body and soul clean for the next coming months as I am moving house, changing jobs and also putting my small boy in a new place and a new school and I dont need any more head fuck than that.

Otherwise - yeah - all or nothing. I never worry about calories though.

The thing with wine is that you're getting about twice the alcohol content as well, so if you're drinking to get tipsy you're going to do it more quickly with less calories. Same thing for a liquor drink straight up or with a sugar-free mixer.

If you're just having a drink or two for pleasure then you really shouldn't be worried about this at all. If you really love beer and just like wine so-so, then by all means have a few extra carbs in a beer you love.
